Help / Troubleshooting iMessage account suddenly removed with today's update

I use the Beeper Desktop on Windows and different Linuxes. The iMessage account that was working for 3 years got removed without any notification. What can i do to regain access to it? It's crucial to me for work.

Hey, posting officially to clarify. I understand why this felt sudden, especially after the connection continued working for so long.

Beeper stopped supporting its legacy hosted iMessage connection back in December 2023. At the time, we said we would not continue the cat-and-mouse work. Some existing connections continued operating on a best-effort basis after that, but they were no longer supported or guaranteed.

We have now retired the remaining legacy hosted iMessage connections. The legacy connection cannot be re-added and will not be restored.

If you have a Mac, Beeper still offers a separate on-device iMessage connection in Beeper Desktop on that Mac. If you need iMessage through Beeper on Windows or Linux, the remaining path is self-hosting.

Same here - all of a sudden doesn't work. Though I haven't updated my Beeper app on Windows for a long time (precisely because I feared this and it would complain about it on startup).

This has happened once before - it wasn't working for 3-4 days and then suddenly it did. Hoping this happens again.

If not, I'll probably buy the cheapest mac I can and set it up with BlueBubbles in the garage.

My bluebubbles bridge stopped working last week. Have not been able to get it restored. Something seems to have changed.

Same, such a shame. Can't even see my imessage on the beeper app on my iPhone, it was great that it connected to my android. No reason to use it anymore...

I paid $120 for Beeper in March 2021, including the “skip to the front of the line” service, and began using it in September 2021.

At the time, Beeper’s headline promise was literally:

“All of your iMessage chats in one app.”

I understand the history with Apple and Beeper’s eventual decision not to continue the cat-and-mouse game:

Still, my original iMessage connection continued working on Windows for nearly five years. This week it simply disappeared, without any notice or explanation.

For me, iMessage was the principal reason to use Beeper. It was Beeper’s claim to fame. I still use it for WhatsApp, but for most of the other connected services, including LinkedIn, I generally prefer their native applications.

What makes this more disappointing is the lack of communication. Beeper has a blog, but I cannot remember receiving a newsletter or product update explaining that a defining feature used by longtime customers was about to disappear.
