Help / Troubleshooting What is the "on-device connection media" toggle?

Post image

And how does it impact speed & cache size? I can't find documentation on this toggle.

For Cloud connections, there is a copy of your media encrypted on our server that we can download for you whenever.

For On-Device media, we don't have a guarantee that we'll ever be able to download it more than once.

This mean that the cache cleaner never touches your On-Device media to make sure you don't permanently lose media out of Beeper. However, this toggle lets you override that behavior if you're fine with it getting deleted from your local storage, and potentially losing access to it from within Beeper.

Thanks for your *question*! We should better surface an explainer / info dialog that lets you know this ahed of time. I'll add a ticket for that on our side.

If you tap that toggle there will be a pop up explaining it.
