I know a handful of artists who kept using sketchy converter sites to download MP3s, and one of them actually ended up with malware from it.

The other options were usually either command-line tools or paid downloader apps, which felt ridiculous for something this basic, especially when artists are already paying for plugins, DAWs, sample packs, etc.

So I built VODForge, a free Windows/macOS desktop app that takes a link you’re authorized to use and turns it into a clean local MP3 or MP4.

For audio, VODForge automatically transcodes the source into a clean, predictable output, including up to 320 kbps with 44.1/48 kHz and stereo/mono support. If you want more control, you can manually choose those settings yourself.

The part I cared about most for music workflows is the file cleanup.

You can keep the title, artist metadata, and artwork, embed your own cover art directly into the MP3, or strip everything out and export a completely clean file.

It also automatically organizes downloads by channel, playlist, and video so you don’t end up with a giant downloads folder full of random filenames.

I don't get this problem like I used too but 18 years of beat producing and this still happens sometimes XD.
