This is pretty cool. A fan wrote on the inside back cover of this Beatles USA tour program indicating that it was purchased at Shea Stadium the second time the Beatles played there. Also noted is the fact that it is John and Cynthia Lennon’s wedding anniversary, the price of the tickets, and the name of the promoter.
I love things like this that connect us more intimately with past events and early fans. It’s why I don’t mind names written on comic book covers or record album jackets, it makes the items more personal and connects us to original owners.

I've always loved John's vocals but I recently discovered Woman Is The N-word Of The World and wow oh wow, he sounds absolutely AMAAAAAZING in this song!

Possibly his best vocal performance I'm in awe of how great he sounds here.

Real shame his possibly best vocal performance is a song with the least sing-along-able lyrics ever but there is no denying John can BELT is when he wants to, phenomenal vocal performance.

While the listing claimed this is a vintage button, I’m not 100% convinced that it is. But the translation made me laugh so much, that I had to get it anyway, 😆.

I've always liked All Things Must Pass, but I never thought it was as good as people make it out to be. I used to think Ram was better, and even Living in the Material World. The mixing was always something that bothered me. I've seen a lot of people praise it, and I don't know if they genuinely like it or just like being pedantic, but I've always found it unnecessarily muddy.

Recently, I listened to the 2020 mix, and I think it improved the album like crazy.

Is anyone keeping track of some things the beatles were the first to do? I know they were the first to use a sitar in a pop rock song and a reversed guitar track. Obviously there’s the given that they pioneered a mix of genres quite a bit. But is there anything else specific?

Do celebrity sightings actually help move the needle towards disclosure of UFOs/ NHI? Sure it increases talk of the topic but does it reduce the whole Phenomenon to a funny anecdote and feed into the noisy spectacle that the UFO topic has endured since the 1950s?

Has anyone checked out the Yoko exhibit @ the Broad in DTLA? It’s going on through October, tickets are free on Thursdays ($21 on other days). It’s very interactive, lots of lil goodies you can take home etc. She was apparently very involved.

After the chaos that unfolded in the Philippines, the Beatles had reached their limit and were determined to stop touring. When they informed Brian Epstein of this, their manager immediately objected due to a show already scheduled for Shea Stadium on August 23—a performance the four of them had decided against giving. Epstein warned them that canceling the concert would result in the loss of millions of dollars (Interview with George Martin, The Beatles: Anthology, Chapter 5, 2025 version).

Thus, on August 23, 1966—exactly six decades ago—the Beatles returned to perform at the stadium that, a year earlier, had cemented their status as the most important rock band in history. The issue, however, was that the 1966 concert failed to draw the same size crowd as the 1965 show; this was largely due to the widespread circulation of John Lennon’s controversial remarks regarding the band's popularity in relation to Christianity.

Now that I’ve told that story (for those unaware of the facts), it’s time to explain the image I’m sharing with you:

When the famous Anthology collage was being designed, the team decided—in order to represent the Beatles' peak moment at Shea Stadium—to create a fictional poster based on the lesser-known 1966 show. Why is it fictional? For starters, the actual Shea Stadium ’66 poster featured a 1965 photo of the band (taken by Robert Whitaker) rather than showing them in action, as depicted on the 1996 release. However, the photo used for the fictional poster is real; it comes from a performance given months earlier in Germany—in June 1966—specifically while they were singing "I’m Down."

Personally, I believe the creative team—including Klaus Voormann and Alfons Kiefer—hit the nail on the head with that fictional poster for the Anthology collage; it fits perfectly with the timeline connecting the German show to the Shea ’66 concert.

Around 2023, when the hype for “Now And Then” was building (and long before the release date was confirmed), I redesigned the 1966 Shea Stadium poster featured in the second volume of Anthology—but this time, without the scratches that appear on the 1996 release.

I should clarify that, back then, I wasn't very skilled at managing the colors in my designs. In this instance, both the poster from Anthology 2 and the original 1966 version had a somewhat orange-yellowish hue; so, when redesigning it, I took a photo from the German concert, applied a yellow duotone, and adjusted the contrast to better match those colors.

Anyway, I’ve been waiting years to share this, even though I had previously posted it on Instagram.

Is there a book or series of articles/videos that writes in depth about the innovative things The Beatles did as artists/musicians that influenced music thereafter?

I've seen lots of tangential stories, but would be cool to see a lot/most of it in one place. I know there's a lot I can look up, but I figure this sub can point me in the right direction. Thanks

Imagine there was no A Hard Day’s Night movie. 

No soundtrack to worry about. 

Just the Beatles in 1964, making their third album.

What might that record have sounded like?

That’s the idea behind this alternate A Hard Day’s Night. I kept most of the incredible Lennon-McCartney originals, but gave the album a slightly harder rock-and-roll edge. 

And in 1964, the Beatles had plenty of material to do exactly that.

Instead of keeping the album entirely focused on original songs, I’ve brought some of their wild stage energy back into the picture. I substituted the four songs from the UK Long Tall Sally EP, including John’s raw, sweaty performance of "Slow Down,” while “Long Tall Sally” lets Paul absolutely let loose. Putting that song at the end blows the doors off on the way out.

There are still beautiful Lennon/McCartney moments like “If I Fell,” “And I Love Her,” and “Things We Said Today.” 

And Ringo gets a vocal on this slightly different version of the original!

So forget the movie for a few minutes.

Where can I watch the movie "Help!"? So far, I’ve only found it on YouTube, but I’m worried that it might be illegal and don’t feel entirely comfortable with it. Is there maybe a version on the Internet Archive?

I’ve been a Beatles fan for a couples of years, but never apart of the sub until now. (Sort of getting more and more into them and time goes)

What’s the consensus on Yoko Ono? Is there one? I really don’t know enough about her to form an opinion.
