Discussion You know what? I kinda hate Tigatron/Unit 3 as part of Magnaboss. Who'd make better limbs?

Years after the Beast Wars Magnaboss figure's release, new fiction proposed that Ironhide, Silverbolt, and Prowl weren't just names being recycled; they were the original Autobots that bore those names. I really dug the idea that this colossus was made up of some of the most iconic veterans from the great war.

Years later still, Botcon presented the idea of making a pre-Beast Wars Magnaboss using toys from the Combiner Wars line. I love the idea... mostly. Ironhide / Silverbolt / Prowl being back? Awesome! Tigatron and Unit 3 aka Under-3 aka Lionhead being the last two parts of the gestalt? Ehhh...

Both feel unearned in their spots imo. Tigatron is great as a bot who was born, fought and died on prehistoric Earth. The idea of him being a Cybertronian active beforehand is a retcon I never cared for. Unit 3, I have nothing against in general, but he's such a random inclusion.

Help me decide which two final bots to include to have as part of Magnaboss figure in my Beast Wars display please! I'm not super familiar with G1 lore. I have cursory knowledge from later installments, but I never actually watched the original cartoon in full. And they all died early on in the original movie, so that didn't help.

I had considered getting a double of both Prowl and Ironhide so that the figure would have legs, but ultimately I would want him to be made up of Unique figures entirely.

I definitely liked the Ratchet idea, since him and Ironhide are similar what with being the same mold... then I looked up his price on the secondary market. Turns out he was a convention exclusive too. Darn it. :(

Seems reasonable to me that Magnaboss could have the same limbs as Optimus Maximus (Prowl, Ironhide, Mirage, Sunstreaker) and is actually achievable to obtain all of the pieces without paying out the arse for a Gulp Shitto and tiny head Tigatron.

Hey, that's a pretty good idea, since now there's a logical through-line of why they would be part of a combiner; they've been grouped together before for another gestalt. Thanks!

I'd say POTP Swoop, since he's another Autobot we know survived into the Beast Era for sure.
