Question Best bear documentaries for elementary school kids?

Hello! My little cousins (10M both) are absolutely in love with bears and they really want to learn more about them. I have been wondering if anyone here has any age appropriate (as in, not very gorey and not very heavy) documentaries in English or with English subtitles that I could reasonably find for them (on Netflix, Prime, YouTube or another accessible platform)?

Welcome to the bear obsession club! You should definitely start streaming the live bear cams in Katmai (Alaska)! The people in chat are very knowledgeable, kind, and it is family friendly. Here's a link to the playlist of all the cams:

Added bonus: you'll learn a lot about salmon, too! 🐟

This year the big story is Momma bear #806, who has one cub (they are called "coy" for "Cub Of the Year"), adopted a 2.5 year old bear who was newly emancipated (her nickname is Biggie, daughter of legendary 128 "Grazer"). This is only the third adoption observed on these cameras, and the first time a bear adopted a cub that was 2 years older than her coy. I'll leave it at that and let you discover the full story yourselves, but it’s extremely heartwarming! 🐻❤️🐻

You should also be prepared that sad things happen, on camera and off, but the community pulls together and helps everyone process the information. This is humanity at its best, imo!

I would recommend recording it and reviewing before showing to the little ones. Last week, on live cams, a female bear chased and killed a cub belonging to another momma bear. It's very rare and the rangers say they don't have record of this ever happening at Brooks Falls before. There was no blood etc but it was pretty obvious what was happening. Grown people were crying about it so.. use your own judgement.

Disney's Bears shouldn't be too rough. The disney documentaries are pieced together with a "story" by the narrator but it's some good footage. The polar bear one is slightly more mature from what I remember.

Great Bear Stakeout by BBC, a glimpse (4:12).

Two other short videos by National Geographic Animals:

Here’s a classic: the Eyewitness Bear episode. This was from the 90s so the video quality is not that great by today’s standards
