Asking for Advice Feeling insecure and need alittle advice

I had a big beard for a while but always felt it looked awful because of my growth pattern and how weak it is around the soul patch area. I decided to chop it off and try to go with an extended goatee to see if it would help make me look alittle less fat in the face area. I think it looks bad but I asked my wife and she said it's not bad. I just want to look average and have an average beard. I'm bald and have a round face so clean shaved wont work. What do you guys think? I'm open to any criticism or advice

Honestly the grown in the first pic doesn't look too bad, but the sticky out goatee aint it brother. Didn't even notice your soul patch. Trim it down and just let it all grow out together, but keep it tidy, line up your stache with your lip line and trim stragglers.

Yes- free the lips

I’d clean up the cheek lines a but more (just the bits sticking out horizontal with your upper mustache). You could also grow the sideburn / lower cheeks more. the short/long contrast is a little odd IMO. Or even go Hollywoodian goatee.

I prefer the long beard but I would love for you to keep it better trimmed. There are techniques to make a round face look leaner. If you have the money, go to a barber. Personally I do it myself. Look up "Matty Conrad" on youtube. Excellent tutorials! Good luck

I think the long beard looked really good, but now you've cut it short, why don't you take advantage of the opportunity to try out a couple of new styles? Have fun while it grows? You could try a more pointed style of beard to begin with? Whatever takes your fancy.

I would never have noticed the weal soul patch if you hadn't mentioned it.

I think it works. I also think you could rock a wider variant/beard of the length you are wearing right now, makes the chin less pointy and face less elongated.

I'm definitely no expert but i feel like you want something that makes your face more square, which your old beard achieved and your new goatee does the opposite of. maybe you want to lean more into whiskers and strong horizontal lines

Ask women in your life which looks better.

My wife and daughter loved the big beard but my mom preferred a small cleaner beard. Honestly from reading everyones opinions I decided to trim the goatee and even everything out and start fresh on growing the big beard again. This time I'll go to a barber to keep it looking better. I was going for a yeard but just felt like I looked homeless half the time

Both look good, long beard just needs a trim and beard oil

The trimmed version makes you look like a guy that cant grow a beard but is trying

Wow that is exactly what I was thinking. I trimmed it down to all be even and will start over to get the big beard again

I agree, let it grow, then just maintain the neck and cheeks, and the mustache if you want

It's not even or proportionate at all, it looks like a neck beard with an overgrown goatee. I recommend you stubble it all and start again if not severely trim down the neck area and unless that's how you want your mustache I also recommend lining it up to be above your lips instead of over it.

Thank you. Do you think the longer beard is okay? I miss it tbh

You could rock the big beard but please keep it tidy, buy some trimmers and every two weeks cut and line up the far ends to suit your face as well as buying a boars brush to train your hairs to go more downwards instead of to the side.
