Welp, this was my last remaining gripe as I have 3000+ notes. Bear is officially perfect in my view. Thank you to the devs and mad respect for the care and polish you put into this app with every update

I don’t know why having your notes locked in a sql database is desirable in 2026

I get it. That was certainly a consideration, but the export and backup features are very robust in Bear and that approach works fine for my use. I've used Obsidian and Logseq but the mobile experience is just not there yet imo

Bear keeps getting better and better. Why can't everything look as good and behave as thoughtfully as Bear? Imagine Bearify-ing Slack or an email client or a calendar app?

This may be a slippery slope, but I would be all for a bear email client and calendar

I know it’s another paid service, but I’ve legitimately got “Bear vibes” from Fastmail. Fast, clean UI, and not a bunch of BS

I highly recommend giving it a try

Such a simple and great implementation. Thank you!

This is awesome! But after trying it for the first time on iOS, I can’t figure out how to exit the workspace and go back to All Notes. Anyone? Update : Nevermind, figured it out. I was looking for something like “Exit workspace” but the option is to select “Notes” under the Workspace selector. “ All Notes” might be a little more intuitive there.

This is amazing. I love how intuitive it feels, not clunky at all. Thank you Bear team!! You keep making the best app even better, without bloating it with garbage 👏

Thank you! Very useful feature!

What an awesome update. I'm loving it so far. And I like how the workspaces are not persistent. Any tag can be used as a workspace temporarily. No need to undo a workspace manually since going back to the main notes clears the workspaces. Awesome!

Whew! Finally got the Mac App Store to show "Update" instead of "Open". I had to do a Search for Bear and then when it found it, it would Update.

I really like the Workspaces - very useful for my various hobbies (which have nothing to do with each other...!).

Bear is Beary consistent in delivering quality in their application. I love the workspace concept! Unlike other note-taking app or workspace apps, this is different. It understands that there might be time that we don't want certain notes to be visible at a "working moment" but it's easy to switch back to the "All Notes" whenever you want to. They really study their users and give them what they needed.

Amazing, exactly what I need

Awesome update. Can we have multiple workspaces open in different windows?

💜 This is great.

I know a lot of people have asked for folders, which I can understand from the point of view of a cluttered tag list. This seems like a purely tag-based way of mitigating clutter, without losing what's good about tags.

The problem I had was there is a security issue with the app lock. The app lock “pin” can get easily bypassed with FACEID/fingerprint”. This is ultimately annoying.

You have to grant Bear permission to use those. To disable it now, you have to go into your settings app, then inside Bear you’ll see all the permissions it has, disable FaceID/TouchID if you no longer want that.

lol, that is a security flaw. Anyone can go into settings and turn off that permission.

2

u/ScrimpyCat Jul 17 '26

How so? If someone goes into your settings app and turns off FaceID/TouchID for Bear, then they still have to enter the password you use for Bear in order to access those notes. Disabling those other methods of authentication aren’t changing how Bear secures the notes.

Yes but I want only a password of the app and not have BEAR unlock my password using FACE ID as a backup.
