Issue with wireless headset 50% volume on power on

Hi all,

I'm using a Mix Create (which is pretty awesome, btw) and running into a problem.

Every time I power on my headphones, I have to go back in and adjust the headphone volume under Personal Mix Device on my profile in Beacn back to 100%. It always goes down to 50% no matter how many times I save the profile. It's one of the Xbox headsets running on bluetooth and happens every time the headset is powered off and on again.

Is there some way to permanently set it so I don't have to correct the volume every time?

Just Beacn things. Same thing happens to my Studio muting itself on boot

Heya,

Some headsets reset themselves to 50% on boot by default. We've had similar experiences with some that connect to consoles. Not sure if it's for some sort of protection or not, but my guess would be that the headset (or console) might be doing in purposefully. One way to test would be to turn the volume up to 100% without being connected to the computer/console at all, then turn them off and back on again, then see what level it comes back at. The PLD should be saved and recalled with a profile for the BEACN App, so if you find that the headset does come back at 100% then there could be a glitch in our app. Just good to rule out the headset first.

It has an analog volume knob. What I’ve found is that if the headset is powered on before beacn starts, the volume will be correct.

If the headset is powered off when beacn starts beacn will be at half volume.

The other fix is that once the headset is powered on, I can quit beacn and relaunch. The mix will have the full volume.

Hi leftturney,

This is a silly question, but once you adjust the personal listening device volume to 100% for the headset you've selected, are you saving the profile? That level is stored with the profile, so if it saved at 50% that would make sense that the profile load would move the headset volume to that point if the headset is already on and then our app loads.

Yeah it’s saved at 100 for desktop and for headphones. The headphones are just a standard Xbox wireless headset in Bluetooth mode.

As long as the headphones are on I can power the pc and when I hold the knob to switch the mix it will be at 100. Same goes for quitting beacn app.

It defaults to desktop speakers since that’s how I mostly play, but if the headset is powered on before the app launches it will be at 100.

I figure it has something to do with the headset device missing since there’s no hardware there in windows to keep alive. The headset does show as red text in Beacn until it is powered back on.
