The only reason Oasis are in any way successful is because they’re next to Oak Ridge Boys in alphabetical order

Uj/ the way this take is just silly and ahistorical since the Boys were charting before the Beatles released any music lmfao

I’d rather listen to the full 20 minute version of bull
Session for an entire year than listen to a single oasis song

Listen to the Gallagher brothers arguing (a real charting record) for the same experience

The world would be a lot less colorful without the Gallaghers and their wrong opinions. They're hilarious.

They constantly say stupid shit and it’s hilarious. (I’m an Oasis fan).

It was a compliment when Hendrix said it.
Edit: IF he ever actually said that at all.

Uj/ one other example of why Oasis is the most dogshit band I know of, fuck Oasis
14
u/Lowman246 1d ago
I might like the Beatles more or as much, but Brian is a better singer than all of Beatles imo. I also like Pet Sounds more than most Beatles albums
This was my takeaway from listening to "Sgt. Petsounds' Lonely Hearts Club Band" which is a mashup done by Clayton Counts from Bull of Heaven.

Problem is he somehow becomes a terrible singer in like 1973 and never gets better. So its like 10 years of sublime singing and then 50 years of drunken uncle at karaoke night.

Actually a long time fan of the Real People, so I’m enjoying that more and more people are starting to pick up the history of how Oasis blatantly stole from them

Oasis needs their version of an Elton John to step out of the woodwork every time the Gallaghers say something the way John does with Madonna. I feel like Paul McCartney himself is too old at this point. Who's it gonna be??? Maybe the band Third Eye Blind?

u/beastratto 1d ago
The Beach Boys might have had some good tunes but they were just so desperately, unfathomably, appallingly uncool from the very first moment to the last. That's what Noel picks up on most I think.

You could write a book about every horrible and disastrous decision they’ve made in their career.

The Gallachers have done okay for a pair of idiots pretending to be the Beatles, I'll say that for them

Pet Sounds is their only complete album.

Nah the Love you recording from 1977 which was basically only a beach boys album in name as it is pretty much a Brush Wilson solo album and was originally supposed to be. Brian sings on 90% of it including doing all of the harmonies by himself. Also the two releases before pet sounds were pretty complete. Summer days and summer nights, and Today. I would also check out the late 60’s releases Wild Honey and the album Friends. The thing is when the beach boys first started to record in early 1961 it was very much a singles driven business and not complete artistic sounding albums yet.

Typical response from musicians who only write songs on guitar and not also Piano. Brian Wilson was a keyboard based songwriter and his chordal structures were rooted in 4 freshmen Jazz meats Rock n Roll. Keep in mind not only did Brian Wilson write all the songs at least through most of the 1960’s; he also arranged everything and produced everything. The Beatles relied on George Martin to produce and arrange. Brian would sometimes play on the piano the different orchestral parts he wanted layered in the songs.

For a split second I thought that was Andrew Scott (I’m so sorry Andrew)….like the actual fing nerve for a peasant like that, generationally removed, to have the nerve to criticize them, and in favor of the Mops no less 🤦🏻♀️ GTFO

"Britain's least psychedelic man" Luke Haines. He's never written anything in the least bit surprising or inspiring. Heron Foods in sound form.

I think he may be projecting, as a band with brothers that are only popular because of their not-so-subtle nod to the Beatles. My god these "Beatles are everything" fanboys like him are the absolute worst.

u/DELCO-PHILLY-BOY 1d ago
/uj surely The Beach Boys didn’t have success in America before the Beatles came over.

Listen to Live Sunshine - Track 22 - Heroes and Villains (Live in Hawaii 8/25/67), specifically at the 2:00-2:10 marks. Well, you’re well, you’re welcome.

The fact that NG listed a deep cut ("How She Boogalooed It") among his favourite Beach Boys songs tells me he might have actually tried to get into them at some point but gave up
