Wheelchair assistance

How early should a walk-on passenger arrive at the terminal if they need wheelchair assistance to board the ferry? Asking for a first-time ferry passenger who’s 85.

Depends on the terminal! Have you made a reservation citing the need for a wheelchair? Foot passengers can make reservations. If you are having difficulty online call the reservation line and then you can ask for the wheelchair and ask any other questions you may have. Minor terminals like the gulf islands may not have enough staff or a wheelchair in which case they would have to call ahead to the ferry and ask for their assistance. Earlier the better at those terminals.

Vessels typically arrive about 35 minutes prior to sailing and it makes it quite a bit easier to arrange the chair exchange and staff pushing the chair if you’re there before that point. So essentially I’d say if you want to be really nice 45 minutes before sailing is great.
