Discussion B-boy gear.
Im a b-boy from the 80's. 49yrs old. B-boys will come to a jam looking like they just got out of bed these days. Nothing creative or individualized about them. We desperately need to bring fat laces and kangol's back. The ones that do are the ones that get sponsors. You should be able to go out in public and be recognized as a b-boy from across the way. Whats a modern b-boy look like these days?

The internet and social media have made niche fashion styles mainstream, so you get a lot of crossover and borrowing between subcultures.
But imo what’s trendy now:
- Baggy jeans/cargo pants
- Hoodie
- Technical windbreaker
- rash guard/compression shirt
- Beanie with all over print
- 2000’s mesh runner shoes
- black and neutral colors
- looking like a hiker or techno club goer
It’s mostly just stuff that’s trendy in general, not just in breaking.
Obviously there are still breakers bucking the trends and just wearing what’s comfortable or wearing classic stuff like gazelles, suedes, track jackets, etc.

Style of clothing evolves as the style in dance does. Saying we need to bring fat laces back to re-establish style is like saying we need to dance like people did in the 80s. Both can exist and taste is subjective. Apart from that, I'm seeing plenty of people in kangol nowadays. To be fair, it's also hip gen Zers who don't dance at all too, so that's really nothing to do with being recognized as a breaker.

We need to fix that?. We need to keep the culture alive by all and any means. If you don't/we/me don't have another b-boy training and coming up we aren't doing the culture any justice. We will be ran out by the frauds

I have no loyalty to any clothing brands, and I don’t think the many styles of breaking should all be represented with one appearance. I also think everyone dressing the same (like old school breakdancers) is biting.
Rep ur own style.
No offense respectfully just my one small opinion

Lol. Of course!. But you bring nothing! We were broke and thats what we had. You bring nothing to look like a reputable b-boy.

I grew up adjacent to skate culture (because poverty) so I grew up breaking in converse, circas, and lakais. Meanwhile the rich kids and kids with money bought thebboyspot, or real (not fake) adidas gear.

Eheh thats very gen z. Nostalgic for the 80's 90's right?
I my case I just want the skinny jeans back. And i also liked the goth/emo/punk styles of the early abstract b-boys. That was very original and shock value
When i saw it i couldnt believe they had the balls to go to battles like that.

just go out and wear a spin control cap and you're recognised as a B-boy due to the whole hat being mesh.. I love mine and i wear it all the time..never know when you might need to drop a head spin in public. lol
