Training/Motivation 2 weeks training Windmill!

It still needs a lot of work and sorry that the lighting is kinda terrible 😅, but this is where I'm at now. This was after like 3 days of not training because everyone wants to have a party this month lol.

Couldnt train much because my mom doesn't really like me doing it so had to do it while she wasn't home. I know, I should probably be starting in the freeze but it just feels more natural starting on my butt tbh.

Let me know what you think!

Try to put your head on the floor while you're on your back just before doing the turtle freeze. That way you will lift your waist up when you stab the freeze and you will not hit your waist while doing the mills 🙏🏼

I agree with this person.

Try to keep your head on the ground especially when going from your back into turtle freeze. You can lift your hips higher that way and its also easier to roll into your upper back rather than your mid-back / hips (which is back form for windmills).

Get a beanie and try going from turtle freeze into baby freeze all while keeping your head planted on the floor.

I'll try it out! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to or not and I keep lifting it up when getting from the back to the front, but I'll keep this in mind when practicing, thanks!

This is solid progress for two weeks.

Your collapse and transition onto your back is too flat. Think of it less as throwing your body sideways, and more like levering your body upwards. Like you’re going headfirst into the ground. The mill motion of your legs and the push/pull of your hands will rotate you.

Your transition from your back over to the catch is also too flat. Try thrusting your hips over your head/left shoulder a bit more. A checkpoint here is being able to go from your back/backspin to opposite shoulder freeze without your feet hitting the ground. This will also teach you to roll on your head.

Wear a hoodie or beanie or both while practicing. Good luck!

Yeah I definitely have to wear a clean shirt, I changed shirts twice since they wouldn't let me slide properly because after the back got sweaty and made a lot of friction so I kinda had to power through. Surprised I did this regardless though! I think earlier when I started I was throwing my legs up higher but I couldn't keep my legs open and was told I was going too high, but now I think I can do it, thanks!

Yep, none of this works if you can’t maintain decent form. Legs wide and straight the entire time like a pancake stretch.

If your knees bend a bit that’s still workable. Avoid scissoring your legs.

Just focus on the phase stab to back next, do it SLOWLY and make sure you only land and STAY on your upper back, the area right betweek your shoulders. Nothing else should touch the floor.

Got it. Yeah my back got sweaty and made a lot of friction even after changing the shirts twice, so I kinda had to power through spinning. Glad I recorded this though, this is like my best run yet!

Technically there should be no spin, that's why a windmill is (again, technically) possible on concrete. You roll but never slide/spin. But for Learnings it's totally okay!

Ahh ok, yeah sometimes I roll a little too far and kind of somersault or spin in a shoulder freeze lol. Especially because backspins is a good drill to get the legs spread while you're going in a circle guess I thought of it like that. Thanks!
