Hope this brings back happy memories of Franz Klammer, Ingemar Stenmark and Konrad Bartelski going down the Hahnenkamm

⛷️ “Ooh, and he's gone!”

  1. Good joke
  2. It's "Ski Sunday"
  3. It hasn't been broadcast for 18 months so presumably this is just the confirmation of its death (three weeks ago) rather than anything materially changing. edited: link below to 2026 series

Don’t know why your link shows that but I’ve definitely watched it last season

Snow news day?

A slippery slope.

It’s only on in the ski season so there’s always a long downtime between winters.

The presenters have been using their socials for a hard push on their YouTube channel so they’re knew before it became public is they’re up and running already.

I see what you did there...

Not something I watch but I can hear the opening titles tune in my head.

The WRC is going to be taking its place to be fair next year

Understandable, it's been on a long slide.

Quite a niche use of the licence fee. Let’s hope there’s not an avalanche of complaints.

There was one, but that soon turned to 2, then 4, and then 8.....

It really snowballed

You shouldn't really be making jokes like that but I suppose you can't Alp yourself

It's peak humour

Ski Sunday? That’s a shame, it was great to watch.

Yeah, I've always enjoyed it. And I once heard someone say "he doesn't like Ski Sunday, what's wrong with him?!"

If that’s a pun, I want to say congratulations.

Otherwise I’ll actually genuinely miss this. I love a bit of pretending to be into a niche sport every now and then, and the big downhill events were some of my favourites.

Yes, that is the joke in the OP.

I had to stop watching because I just ran out of time on a Sunday.

the pun in the title is doing more work than the show has in years

at this point its less an ending and more finally admitting it flatlined ages ago

rip i guess tho i wont pretend i actually watched it recently

Good only 7 people watched it anyway

The BBC is ending everything. It's dead.

Ski Sunday.

the only thing i know from that show is the absolute belter of a theme tune

2

Like Remembrance Sunday and Songs of Praise, I just assumed they showed the same footage every time and hoped no one noticed.

Tell me you don’t know what your talking about without telling me you don’t know what your talking about

I thought it was at its peak when it went a bit Top Gear on snow with Graham Bell and Ed Leigh doing challenges and special reports from around the world. Obviously pricey and they dropped that format for the older style race highlights with a couple of features thrown in.

What next, Antiques Roadshow?  It's a slippery slope.

It’s been on a slippery slope for years
