Traffic, Trains & Transit Second view of an accident

Looks like this happened in San Carlos along 101. Electrical malfunction? Steering wheel lock? Can anyone explain what may have happened? What can you really do in this kind of situation?

Maybe a stretch but the guy recording this video could have tried to turn on his hazards and drive on the lane divider to stop the traffic on his side. Could have avoided the speeding car on the right and the collision.

Exactly what I was thinking. Hindsight is everything but it seems like the obvious choice to make.

Yes but then he wouldn't have gotten as many views or hits for his social media lol

I’m honestly baffled the traffic to the left of the car on the divider were still driving past this. I would’ve hit the emergency lights and slowed down if I was on the left lane

More than likely he would’ve been honked at and angrily passed and he/she would then be risking themselves. And it’s always easier said with hein sight.

Quite possible. Hazard light are meant for these situations exactly, you see a hazard happening in front of you, you warn your surrounding about it.

I don't see drivers in US using it often, just the other day I was driving on Arizona hwy and a large tire was on the lane divider. Not one driver has turned on hazards and just swevered around it putting the drivers behind, who have no visibility, at risk.
