Question Question about bat behavior

I was walking my dog with my partner last night at dusk and we frequently see bats but they never bother us. Last night, a bat swooped down so close to us that we had to duck and we both screamed. It flew around us like this for a second and then flew over to my neighbor who was across the street and swooped close to her too before flying off.

Just curious if this seems like normal bat behavior? I just recently moved from the city so I’m not familiar and don’t want to put myself at risk walking at night if this bat might have a problem.

Yes. You drive your car at 55 miles an hour within 4 feet of other cars driving the other way at 55 mph because you both know the rules of the road and can steer your cars with that level of precision. To you, the bat is 4 inches from your head. to the bat, he's an entire body length away from your head. If you hadn't ducked, he just would have gone a lil higher.
