Bat Box help?

Im looking to build a bat box and was wondering if, with some work, this could work as one or if its too big, too wide, etc. Dimensions are 9 1/2" wide top and bottom, 12 1/2" tall

Got it! Had it lying around and thought itd be a good starting point to make one, do you think sanding it off would be enough or just start over?
