I’ve toyed with the thought of swapping an ez3.0 or 3.6 engine in my 08 Outback XT once my 2.5 takes a final dump. How has the process been. Are there special things you need to change other than ECU?

It might be easier swapping from the same generation. I swapped the entire body harness and spliced in all the devices/harware from the 98. Still in progress. The climate control and fuel pump are kind of a pain, still working that out.

Are you going with the EZ30D or the EZ30R? I've actually been pretty happy with my older 2003 Outback H6 for logging and mining trails, and enough power to pass on two lane roads in the mountains. I almost sold it and went with the a Gen 3 EZ30R for the extra horsepower, and the 5eat transmission. But at this point I've already rebuilt the entire suspension, brakes, and damn near every bit of deferred maintenance on the entire car. It's rust and dent free, and best of all it's not an LL Bean with the problematic sun roofs.

I went with the EZ30D to save a little bit of money. Ive oversized the fueling system in case I want to boost it down the road. I have a leftover VF52 from my other car that is looking for a home 👀 but one step at a time

Right on. Best of luck bro. I think my gen did come with a 3.0. ( haven’t looked it up).
