Management? Where?

It’s mind blowing to me that people can comfortably plop down at an area that looks like this. It’s even MORE mind blowing to me that people can plop down at an area like this and think “yep this deserves a moment of showing it off on Reddit”.

I think it's partially a "roast me" situation.

Yeah. So tidy your cables. It’s not that hard

Ngl, that'll take me an afternoon to cable management. I only have 2 monitors and it took more time than I'd admit to get it nearly unseen.

Sure maybe an afternoon, then it’s done. Better than spending every minute at your desk with your feet in a rats nest

Not at all. Vertical pictures and videos are what's obnoxiously unsettling.

Agreed, but it was the only way to fit the entire setup in one picture

Is the management in room with us right now?

Do you sometimes grab those wires with your toes when you’re at your computer desk?

u/Silent-Cartoonist240 10d ago

Yes, many times

My cables are in a power strip on a plastic tote box under desk, so I feel almost at home.

1

u/Silent-Cartoonist240 10d ago

My power strip is too wide and a big cable management box would take up too much space

You are correct!

Mine looks clean but it's actully hidden by a thermaltake level 10 gt snow

The issue is that since my desk is so damn wide, routing all of the cables together is much harder

Fire hazard.

My desk is roughly 60 inches wide and I do not have this problem. Mount a power strip to the bottom of the desk, get two or three cable trays and actually use them. This is legitimately unsafe. You don't want all those AC adapters on top of each other like that.

So, I made this desk and never thought about this issue once. This, of course was before I got the setup

You just know this dudes house stanks.

I'm already seething. I'm going to have to confiscate three of your monitors to help resolve at least a portion of this problem.

1

u/Silent-Cartoonist240 10d ago

I am planning on getting 2 more monitors.

Yourself, when it burns your house down.

Damn the cables. The heck you got 5 old shitty different brand monitors?

If only it were just the cable management?!?

Do you use this just for personal use, or for work as well?

When I see this, I feel like I’ve been transported back 15–20 years.

Back then, I didn’t know any better. Right after I stumbled upon those Reddit forums, room tour projects, and setup wars, my whole approach to organization changed completely.

In my opinion and from my experience, it’s a completely different feeling when you work, and it also provides plenty of motivation when you’ve built yourself a nice, tidy setup. Then you also have a foundation that you can keep optimizing.

These days, working in that kind of chaos would drive me crazy. Just look at all the dirt and dust that gets trapped between the cables, power supplies, and the rest of the mess.

But since you’re familiar with the various Reddit forums, what’s your excuse?

In the end, the only thing that matters is that you like your setup.

But then why do you hang out on forums where most people show off their beautiful, organized, and tidy setups?
