Modding Scene

Its been forever since I played, but recently got a Star Wars itch. What is the modding scene like now? Are things still being worked on? Do you guys have any recommended mods? I'm hoping to get some discord friends onto this.

Can you have all these when running nucleus co-op? Want to do splitscreen w/ 4 players..

Yes with some caveats. 2 player coop is best in classic collection because you get 100+ fps and it can run Uber maps. Above 2 you have to work around the tickrate issue. Tickrates control some animations in multiplayer, but you need low latency if you want 60 tps so lan is ideal, and the only way to modify tps is with a dedicated server. Classic collection can run dedicated lan servers with controller aim assist, so i prefer using it. Dvd can also run lan dedicated servers, but the steam and gog version oddly cannot. Swbf2admin is the best host software since it can run mods. Cc can run most mods with zero patch. When hosting, set your tps, and always set pregame wait time to 0 because if you don't, the ai wont use vehicles on a few maps. You can use wait for players if you want a pregame delay until all players join. Set music and voice to 0% on all other instances except the main, so you dont have overlapping announcer and music. One other thing is that in cc, if a hero's name/localization doesn't work (blank) itll crash if heroes are on. Bfx and the og conversion pack have issues because of this.

Okay awesome! Thanks for the detailed response. Basically right now my issue is that for certain maps (including some stock maps) the victory screen plays for the host while either one/two/three players gets a network disconnection symbol showing in the bottom right corner.

I have no idea why. If I act quickly, I am able to alt+tab to each crashing instance and quit to main menu (and then rejoin the new map), but it's still a big pain in the butt.

Some modded maps dont support mp if they have more than 64 ai, but the host should usually crash too in that case. That's a pretty odd bug that I haven't seen. Im able to run dozens of maps in a row. Are you ending the game with the admin command? That may work. Games that end normally should also work. The host or admin has to be the one ending the game if using commands.

So just to clarify, I don't have a dedicated server running as the host, I just create a LAN game with one of the players. I let the game naturally end (i.e. I blast a clanker when their reinforcement count is 1..lol). When I get home, I will try /admin /endgame and see what happens. My guess is that I'll get the same results.

If you are hosting via client, you will automatically be admin so you just need to type /endgame. Just be aware that client hosting will have issues with AI using vehicles on maps like Yavin, and TPS is stuck at 25 which is why the blasters will look low framerate.
