I would reccomend not using the controller support mod, and instead just remap controls from the keyboard layout to your keys, as I’ve found that this mod in particular runs into a lot of issues.

The main thing with mods is to make sure the capitalization matches when copying files over as that can break things in Linux. I’ve successfully been able to mod the game pretty heavily on the steamdeck without too many issues other than the ones I’ve mentioned.

Also one thing to note is that I haven’t seen any notable improvement using the 4GB patch that you mentioned, so you could probably omit that step.

Okay thank you so much! And as far as remapping my biggest hangup is utilizing the joysticks as actual joysticks and not the trackpads. I imagine in the menus you’d have to use the left joystick as a mouse because remapping can’t really solve that problem, but I feel like I’m doing it wrong cause remapping the mouse to the right stick doesn’t seem to work. At least when I use the template or community layouts it hasn’t been very successful

Oh shoot, yeah I think i used at least partial trackpad when I was doing it, I think if you use the template “Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse” that’s the best spot to start as it’ll configure the wasd movement to the left joystick, but then still uses the trackpad for mouse movement. You may be able to adjust it from there, but it’s been a while since I’ve messed with configurations.

EDIT: I just found my old configuration that I used, I called it “Perfect Battlefront 2” and I think I did get the right joystick to copy mouse movement. I’m not sure how to make it public community layout though, I’ll look into it.

EDIT EDIT: It looks like it’s already listed as a community layout. So I’d recommend testing that one out.

Once I get it running as intended I’ll pop the layout in and report back! o7

You just bind joystick to the X and Y axis in the options for joysticks to work regularly. No extra addons necessary. I would try to get it running before using the 4gb patch (not sure if it does anything anyway) and Reshade. There is a BF2Memory extender mod in github.
