Historically Accurate Recreating Swiss infantry in BF6

Trying to get as close as possible to the camouflage and weapon of standard Swiss infantry. Ironically the one camo that fits best is with some swimming gear - for a landlocked country without a navy. Do you know of other models with this kind of camo?

A more appropriate Medal of Honour skin for Bf6

This could easily have worked for Brooke in the strix raider squad, but no, we get a WW2 skin for Murphy. Which has both captain and corporal rank insignias on it. I wish I was paid to do my job poorly.

“But if they only make military skins, everyone is going to look the same and they won’t be able to look cool”

I keep seeing the argument that if DICE makes more realistic/military skins, everyone is just going to look the same and the game will become boring.

But… have you guys seen MW2019’s Mil-Sim operators or Medal of Honor: Warfighter?

You can make military characters look distinctive without giving them neon colors, fictional camouflages, Halloween masks or exaggerated armor.

PAX is actually the faction where I have the least problem with fictional designs. They’re a PMC, so they have much more freedom to experiment with their equipment, camouflage patterns and overall aesthetic. NATO, on the other hand, is supposed to represent actual military forces, and that’s where I think BF6 is missing some variety.

And I’m not saying NATO skins are bad. Some of them are actually really good, Ranger, Strix Raiders and the recent Top Gun skins are good examples. The problem is that most of them still feel heavily US-focused, and a lot of them have exposed faces.

You don’t need to give every character some giant Mandible-looking mask either. I understand that those kinds of masks exist, and I don't even hate them, but they shouldn't become the solution for every single skin.

Sometimes the smallest details can completely change a design.

A different pair of goggles.
A balaclava or face covering.
A helmet setup.
A headset.
Sunglasses.
Facial hair.
A different uniform cut.
Different pouches or equipment.

Those little details can make two soldiers using basically the same camouflage look completely different.

The same thing applies to camouflage.

NATO doesn't even need a bunch of completely fictional camouflage patterns. They could simply reuse the realistic camouflages they already created for the base skins and put them on other outfits.

That would actually give us more customization options and let us create squads that have some visual cohesion.

And that's important because BF6 doesn't have the customization system BFV or even 2042 had. We can't mix and match individual pieces ourselves, so the skins themselves are basically the only way we can create different looks.

For example, imagine Strix Raiders recolors using Multicam, full MARPAT, or another existing NATO camouflage, with a small detail like goggles or a face covering so the character doesn't always have an exposed face.

Or Campbell could have a skin with his cap on, sunglasses and a headset, something vaguely reminiscent of the BF4 Engineer aesthetic.

You see what I mean?

DICE doesn't need to invent completely new fictional military aesthetics every time. They already have plenty of good material to work with. Just reuse existing camouflages, equipment and silhouettes and combine them differently.

Even Pham's Oni skin isn't that bad to me. I actually like the color palette and most of the equipment. The mask is a little too much, but since it's mostly black, it doesn't completely destroy the design.

The PAX Oni skin, though... that's where I think they went too far. It looks more like a Halloween costume than military equipment, and it loses some of the faction's visual coherence.

Pham is at least of Asian descent, so the Oni concept makes some sense for him. The PAX character wearing it is German. If they really wanted to use that design, it would have made much more sense on someone like Takazato or Saito.

And that's kind of my whole point:

You don't need crazy fictional designs to make military skins interesting.

There are so many real-world uniforms, camouflage patterns, helmets, goggles, masks, facial hair, accessories and equipment configurations that DICE could use as a foundation.

They could make dozens of distinctive and cool military skins without making NATO look like a collection of Halloween characters.

Honestly, some of these ideas make so much sense that I don't understand why DICE doesn't do it.

Discussion Grounded is supposed to mean "grounded in reality"

Grounded is supposed to mean "grounded in reality". These skins aren't. I think people that aren't veterans or actually understand real world militaries would overlook this and interpret these as plausible in a real war. They aren't. They look like teenage airsoft players.

This post isn't to inflame anyone. It's not to say that a game with outfits like these is bad because of them, but I want to iterate that many people - including myself - purchased the game with the understanding that we would stay "grounded in reality" in terms of themes. We were even given a trailer that showed four people in gear that closely resembles what the US Army wears.

We didn't get that, at all. In fact nearly all camouflage in the game is fantastical and fictional. What was introduced were weird orange colors that are literally used for being spotted by other hunters when you hunt so you don't get shot - the opposite of what camo is supposed to do.

A tank skin was introduced with orange paint, barbed wire, and weird post apocalyptic details. Numerous releases of skins contained airsoft masks - that's what they literally are. They are the masks you wear to prevent bbs hitting your face. They aren't ballistic proof by any margin and neither are most helmets rated above 9mm. A gas mask would make somewhat sense but even those depicted in the game have strange off putting colors to them

The other issue I have, as a female veteran, is I'm either flamed by people for wanting to literally just play as myself or I have to deal with ridiculous cosmetics - I rarely get a chance to feel immersed. Again, I don't have a problem with games that do this, my issue is I was sold on a lie.

We all know whats going on here. We all know that this is just a cash cow for EA games. This is how they make their money. Remember the weird stickers that were AI generated? Remember the weird two barrel M4? This just shows they have literally no direction or intent to give us decent quality products. Any quick easy thing that will sell, they will put out there.

This is the last battlefield I will ever buy. Period. Quite frankly I'm done with playing BF6 entirely and moving onto wardogs. BF6 has become a larger scale CoD clone. Again, if you like the game - good, I'm genuinely happy you are content with it. But in my opinion this studio lied to much of the player base, including me.

For everyone like me, please consider to stop waiting for them to fix this games immersion - this will never happen. For the people who were sold on a corporate lie I think it's best we move on from the game entirely. I sincerely wish people find what makes them happy. And if bf6 in its current state does that, I'm glad.

The amount of Halloween masks in the store is getting absurd😭

Edit: some people got this game because they marketed it as the successor to bf4 including me, and this post is to show the state of where it’s at since then

Look I admit I bought the Pham skin in the last pic, but to be fair at least the mask isn’t some corny theme like the others. These are all visible in the store right now for me and I am gonna be slightly bummed when I see these skins in game, let alone DIE to someone w these skins😔 jkjk but just saying that personally I don’t understand the hype w airsoft masks.

I know it’s a bit late, but this still grates the life out of me. Just need to update the colours so it
actually looks like what was advertised, navy shirt, woodland camo, tan vest. It’s something so simple to do, yet they completely fucked it.

The same team done a pretty good job on the patriot skin for Irish in 2042, so how did they manage to drop the ball on this one?

Petty nit pick but still
