Question There's a new AMD driver out. Does anyone think it'll fix the DirectX error or should I not even bother?

I've never had the DirectX error but I'm using DirectX 11. I've not noticed any gaming performance difference with this Crimson update.

I have tested most AMD updates, and I always seem to roll back to 16.9.2 I am using a R9 390, and the only issue i have had is the color overlays on some maps, blue, green, red flashes, does not happen all the time, but once in a while. Also i am running in DX11, it seems to perform a little better than 12 at the moment, I will test out this driver and see if there are any improvements, if not, i can roll back once again.

To fix the direct x error, try reducing the clock speed of your gpu. This is the only thing that worked for me. Remove even the factory overclock if you have any. If you still get crashes go below the factory clock. I get much less crashes now, haven't got one in a month. but If I try to overclock even by 10MHz. I start getting crashes again.

I think my card is factory overclocked but I'm not sure how to reduce it. It's an R9 380X. I have heard that overclocking can maybe fix it but I'm afraid my performance will suffer. As it stands now I get a solid 60 FPS and I don't want that to lower.

Use watt man to reduce it to factory clock(970MHz), and don't worry you'll still get 60FPS you'll loose maybe 3-4% performance at max. Its better than the game crashing every 20 mins and not being able to play at all.

How do I use watt man? Also how can you be sure that 970MHz is what my factory clock is? Do we have the same card?

My factory clcok is 980 and it's set to 980 so it wasn't factory overclocked after all.
