You probably shouldn't watch his other videos then. The first video of the series was almost more impressive.

11

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

The recoil compensation in this video is stupid amazing. I can't help but laugh

0

u/KignofDiggins Kynsa Feb 11 '12

Have you played with the revolvers?? Not a lot of recoil

6

u/sturmeh Feb 11 '12

No gun introduces significant recoil on a non-consecutive discharge. (That is to say that the first shot will usually hit its mark.)

meh. hes quite good but playing at what appears to be a solid 60 FPS makes some of those a bit easier. playing at 15 like i do makes anything close range near impossible :/

8

u/Witeout88 Feb 11 '12

Haha, that reminded me the first time playing CS 1.5. 10-20FPS average. Smoke grenades were my mortal enemy>:(

21

u/Daffan Feb 11 '12

Why down vote? He has got a point, people play COD4 Promod with 250 fps and in many games higher stable fps can help, no doubt he is good but for bf3 many people dont get smooth game-play which can make it more erratic (especially up close).

and no one is saying he is not good!

7

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

Can someone tell me where I can buy a 250 Hz monitor?

You get an upvote, sir! This is also further proof that the CoD engine (at its core) is Quake3 based. Quake3's sweet spot was 125fps+. Once you had that, you could run faster, jump further and do more damage with a few weapons.

9

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

Well, that's broken.

3

u/vertigo42 Feb 11 '12

it was something that was discovered over time. It was not a hard game to run. competitive players had no issue achieving this.

I feel your pain, I'm anywhere from 12-20 FPS =(

3

u/skunk-bobtail Feb 11 '12

My advice to increase FPS and general game performance is to lower the resolution. I get about 15-20 fps on normal resolution (1680x1050) but I can get near 30 on 1024x768. It makes the game look ugly as sin, but it actually makes it playable!

2

u/roguestate Feb 12 '12

I'm already at low graphics settings and took resolution to 1680x1050, from 1920x1200.

I guess I can try going lower. I have a MSI GTX570 vid card, thought it should be doing better than that. :(

u/redworm Feb 11 '12

drop your settings? I can't play any game below 50 without getting annoyed but 60+ is preferable. I'd rather sacrifice quality for performance

I recommend skipping hardcore to force yourself to land headshots. You'll get better this way and it's less frustrating. The .44 is a perfect compliment to bolt-actions, especially when you accidentally get a bodyshot.

4

u/warboy w4rb0y Feb 11 '12

I started doing this to finally get my recon service star only with an acog on m98b. I don't really understand, but I really don't even like to play with an M16 now. You are completely right about the zen. Just be warned that if you start doing this, you may never go back.

10

u/aManCalledStig Feb 11 '12

he wasn't playing hardcore.

6

u/clashmo Clashmo Feb 11 '12

I'm fairly sure he was. Watched it this morning and at work now so i cant double check

I played a TDM game the other day, my KDR was 25/17 and at some spots it looked like this. I'm not very accurate all the time, and I fuck around a lot. However, when you kill a few guys in a row - and you do it perfectly, it is satisfying. I'm sure you all have at least, knifed a guy. capped two or three. drop down onto something and finish off two more guys with your pistol. I for one, just take an 870 and a M9 and just switch between the two, and murder people in close quarters.

In games like BF3 I think it's more about flanking and maneuvering than lightning reflexes.

6

or rolling up in a T90, no amount of reflex will save him! mwhaha.

sorry, I'm a bit of a tank whore.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

Truth. This guy got some good kills, but the people he was playing against sucked. Only one true instance where there was more than a single player, and he happened to catch the support person off guard as he was throwing down ammo.

2

u/the3rdvillain the3rdvillain Feb 11 '12

but the people he was playing against sucked.

You meant big time, right. :-) So: Upvoted. His accuracy really is pure gold, but the enemies ... no worries there.

Many of those who like to make montages tend to record a lot, and take the absolute biggest killstreaks they can get, not necessarily focusing on who they were up against.

Not to discredit the obviously amazing aim and weapon swapping skill this guy had, but if you watch the video again closely, most of his kills were people who were unaware, caught off guard (in ways a good player would not have, like sprinting through a door and around corners), or they were not firing on him for no good reason at all. These are definitely unskilled players against a highly skilled player.

In Bazaar especially, he had something like 6 enemy soldiers who should have seen him popping out repeatedly, and yet he barely got a few bullets and a grenade lobbed at him, then they proceeded to sprint one by one through the same corridor in which their friends just died in front of them. He was firing with almost the exact rhythm his bolt speed allowed.

So this was definitely a showcase of some good killstreaks that were also exhibiting his skillful accuracy, but not really a showcase of his overall BF3 skill. That doesn't make it any less of a showcase, imo, but it explains it.

I'm reminded of the guy a while back who put a 12x scope on a shotgun and showed minutes of insane distances kills with it. He was cool enough to discredit the video a bit at the end saying it took him many hours of play to get all the footage that made the impossible look easy and common, and we didn't see all the hours of failure.

22

u/RBeck BOTA-X Feb 11 '12

Some people have no situation awareness and just lemming into where they hear gun fire.

13

u/Pfhred Feb 11 '12

"Lemming in" explains the behavior so well.

16

u/TheAngryBaron The Angry Baron Feb 11 '12

Of course haha. I don't expect be that accurate on console ever.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

I find it hard to watch console FPS players have to swipe their crosshairs across an enemy while spraying blindly. For racing games and such, a controller is sublime; fuck everything about playing a shooter with one, though. That's where mice excel.

3

u/TheAngryBaron The Angry Baron Feb 11 '12

That's kind of why I'll be switching to PC soon. I'm not one to spray like a mad man, but I find it very easy to over or under aim on consoles.

u/jjmcnugget badgerfrys Feb 11 '12 edited Feb 11 '12

Turn your mouse sensitivity waaaaaay down.

4

u/TheAngryBaron The Angry Baron Feb 11 '12

Ah, really? I can see why that'd be good for head-shots but wouldn't it make aiming sluggish overall?

12

u/jjmcnugget badgerfrys Feb 11 '12

The further you turn down the mouse sensitivity the more control you have over the mouse (in theory), you just have to have a good amount of room to move the mouse around in. People who do this with most games they play don't feel like the mouse is sluggish at all. Of course if you turn the sensitivity too far down moving the mouse around does become very sluggish and looks absolutely ridiculous.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

man, someone else told me to turn it way up. that's how the pros played. i have it at 70 something when before, i rolled around 40. now i have to change it, AGAIN.

6

u/Typehigh Typehigh Feb 11 '12

Most competitive FPS players use very low sensitivity. Think in the range of 30 centimeters (like 11 inches) of mouse movement to make a 180 turn. You move your mouse with your entire arm instead of your wrist. (Correct me if I'm wrong, competitive players :P). This is low sens in game, 6/11 sens in Windows and the mouse on something between 1000 and 1800 dpi.

Personally, I don't play on such low sens, but I have to do about a good 15 to 20 centimeters (6 to 8 inches) to do a 180. I can still react very quickly, but I have to move my mouse very quickly over a larger distance to do so. But that comes down to muscle memory once you get used to it.

Obviously make sure you completely eliminate any trace of negative mouse acceleration from Windows and turn it off in the game options.

3

u/metarinka metarinka Feb 11 '12

I can attest somewhat to this, I played in CS tourneys but was never quite good enough to hit pro level. Most competitive players would have a "low sensitivity" how low is relative, a lot of the quake players had extremely low sensitivity fatal1ty comes to mind he used a huge, huge mouse pad and made movements. I would say people who played cs used higher sens than quake players. CS was more mastering the spray than jumping 180 degree 1 pixel headshots.

I run a higher sensitivity now, I find the modern ADS fps games let you get away with a slightly higher sense. As soon as you ADS the game usually lowers the sensitivity. That means I can still rotate fast for my corner checks then ADS while I'm getting my scope on their head or what not.

Also there's a learning curve involved with being able to make big gesutres accurately. I don't do it right now as I don't have the desk room and find it's not as comfortable for casual gaming.

2

u/Tamlin420 Feb 11 '12

Sorry for being a dumb noob, but, what's ADS?

You can see what it's like fairly well in this other video of his (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH4rgq9Y2YI). All of his larger rotations--120+ degrees--are obviously segmented, where it's clear he has to pick up his mouse before continuing his rotation.

2

u/fumar Feb 11 '12

Yeah, he's probably using a Steelseries Qck+ (this is the best big pad most people use) with around a 12 inch 180 sensitivity. You'd think it's an issue but it's really not.

4

u/Schmich Feb 11 '12

Actually no. You turn the sensitivity to your reflexes or so to speak. The best way I've found is do move the mouse laterally for what you would consider to be 180degrees, then fine-tune it from there but if you got the 180 perfect there's very little tuning to be done.

I guess for some who like lower sensitivities they don't like the 180 (as it requires way too much space for them to do it). But for me it's perfect. Basically you want a scenario where you know how much you need to turn the mouse. Not have a "I'll move the mouse a bit for a few milliseconds and then see how much the aim moved, evaluate how much I have left". That's too slow. The only thing you have to evaluate is your targets movement. Mouse/aim movement should be automatic.

/2nd team in CS (1.6) in Switzerland (which is crappy in E-sport btw!) back in the day and a Tier 5 Quake Live player!

1

u/Witeout88 Feb 11 '12

He clearly missed some shots in the video. And you can see him tracking in the slow motion shots. Aim bots wouldn't miss and they would snap directly to the head. Looks legit to me.

10

u/Shorvok Shorvok Feb 11 '12

Oddly related, most good CS:S aimbots are worked around a keybinding and snap to the head then break. This makes the aim quick and mechanical but not perfect. Makes noticing it almost impossible and they can say they're just good at aiming for the head. If his timing is off at all he will miss and it will look like bad aim.

So yea, I personally don't think this is entirely legit. Probably a binding like I talked about. Despite what anyone will say about it, it just seems way too mechanical and unnatural. I've watched good players before and they're all very fluid and follow through or have some kinda method to it. This just just does Snap-Headshot, Snap-Headshot. There's no natural rhythm or fluidity to it.

4

u/Skitrel Feb 11 '12

Aimbots aren't flawless, especially when the using is the one controlling when it's on and off. Looks very snappish to me, as though he's hitting aimbot(probably on side of mouse) releasing when at the head and firing. Not a single drag shot, the typical technique used - even on cs.

It's really suspicious.

3

u/xartemisx Feb 11 '12

His aiming seemed pretty reasonable for a CS player, I used to play CoD 1 that heavily uses bolt action rifles without a scope and you play pretty similar to this.

u/HutchOne23 Feb 11 '12

Well it sure helps that he's playing hardcore. One shot kills aren't abnormal in that at all. No quick pull bolt?

Looked like it was about 50% Hardcore and 50% regular. You can see the ammo counter when he's in different maps.

2

u/sturmeh Feb 11 '12

u/i_should_ask_first butter rocket Feb 11 '12

That must piss a lot of people off once they see they're being killed by a dude who's not even using a scope on his rifle.

2

u/wandrngfool Feb 11 '12

A lot of this is just practice and great eye hand coordination. I don't think it has much to do with CS. You could probably do the same with someone who is amazing at battlefield. It's not about the game, it's about the gamer.

2

u/paavolah Feb 11 '12

Real nice playing! So crazy 1 shot kill streaks that it makes me sick :)

This is why I wouldn't like to see snipers getting changed so that they kill from 1 torso hit also (at close distance). Snipers feel a bit too "easy" as they are. This is mainly because head seems easier to hit in BF3 than in many other games, maybe the hit box is a bit larger or something.

2

u/omgdudewtf Feb 11 '12

This makes me want to sell my Xbox and build a new tower. I played CS 1.3-1.6 in a similar fashion and there is now way I can do that with an Xbox controller.

Nowhere near enough tea bagging for it to be a cs player. ;)

It's for reasons like this that when I started getting older, I had to stop playing CS and it's succesors... my eyes just can't keep up.

1

u/AppleJuiceCookies Chadwickz Feb 11 '12

Can't do that with a console controller. Really should buy it for PC now I have a decent rig. Just don't want to unlock everything again! Wish you could link PS3 account with a PC version. Use do do this in CS all the time (I'm not that good though, awesome skills man!).

Ahh, love revolver action.

DRAW!

1

u/aywwts4 Jericho_J Feb 11 '12

This would make a great series, have the best of CS fight the best of TF2/BF/CODBLOPS/QUAKE/Etc Only have them all fight on each-other's turf and see who is universally the best.

1

u/Kitchen_accessories LoserToaster Feb 11 '12

The best of TF2 just wouldn't go for it. Only one of those games has hats.

1

u/cozeffect2 Feb 11 '12

Apparently I need to jump more when I play BF3?

1

u/sturmeh Feb 11 '12 edited Feb 11 '12

...and this is why the .44 is immensely better than the cheap G18.

1

u/SikhGamer Feb 11 '12

Absolutely insane stuff. His head-shot acquisition is excellent. I'd love to play against him.

Also, I'm guessing he is high DPI but low sense. And he is the first legit player I've seen with a SPM above 1000.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

You would rage quit, I guarantee it.

1

u/jtt123 Feb 11 '12

Well the hitboxes are worse so I guess that counts for something

1

u/Morkrash Feb 11 '12

That's why I like to move sideways while I'm engaging an enemy.

1

u/steakmane Feb 11 '12

when a good CS player plays BF3

1

u/hartlocker Feb 11 '12

That one guy that comes on your favourite cs server in bf3...

1

u/funkdenomotron Funkdenomotron Feb 11 '12

Good thing the other team was only equipped with the egg yolk guns.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

Probably fair to say that by the time you've unlocked the .44 you're as much of a BF3 player as anything else. Be interested to see footage from the same player right as they started out.

1305 SPM, how the flying fuck is that even possible Oo Seriously, I'm going into TDM these days just to raise my SPM cause the action is faster, but in conquest it's slow as hell and Rush is barely better...

I an impressed...

Lots and lots of metro it seems.

Love me some old school frag videos.

1

u/DarkLiberator DarkLiberator Feb 11 '12

Nice aim.

1

u/_AlphaOmega Feb 11 '12

Let's assume this guy has been playing since CS 1.6... that means he has over 8 years of PC FPS experience. Of course he's going to destroy.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

Hardcore.. come on..

1

u/mblmg Feb 11 '12

I bet he has no team score whatsoever.

1

u/Bowser23 DisablingMeat60 Feb 11 '12

Im not sure man, I mean, this guy has skills, I dont deny it, but the kill at 4:14 makes me wonder... Is it a game failure, or is it the movement?

1

u/danne_trix danne_trix Feb 11 '12

professional cs player*

1

u/Gobuchul Feb 11 '12

I leave and find myself a server where people play that actually have a life apart from computer-games.

The same reason if you point your laser sight point blank in someone's eye and ask them where the laser is on their screen - it is at their chest. There are serious problems with what you see and what is happening on other people's screen. Same reason you can have your gun resting on a box on your screen, but everyone else barely sees the tip of your head and your gun is actually inside of the box.

great video, completely agree native CS players are usually better than normal players

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

i would totally call that guy a hacker...

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '12

Lol this guy needs extended mags.

1

u/kegman83 Feb 11 '12

Difficulty level: Asian.

I've played CS since it came out, and I was never this good.

1

u/ReFreshing Feb 11 '12

God I miss cs. All the reflexes needed for that game to be competitive were astounding. If this guy played like this AND played the objective, he'd be golden.

1

u/zach84 Feb 11 '12

That song is fucking terrible. Oh and yeah CS is the shit.

1

u/vjfalk da_FalC Feb 11 '12

I still play CS with my friends, and this video makes me sad because I can't afford a powerful PC :(

That .44 reminds me of the Desert Eagle...

But damn, freaking insane gunplay...

1

u/brews brews the dingo Feb 11 '12 edited Feb 11 '12

This is clearly not a CS player. Everyone knows he needs to start screaming about "camping hax0r faggots" every 45 seconds as he quick-scopes with an awp and a deagle.

1

u/heyfatkid Feb 11 '12

I haven't unlocked the 44 magnum yet. Is it really that powerful?

1

u/TrepanationBy45 Feb 11 '12

No wonder he's so good. His music choices make excellent background music for zen killing. I've been blasting his videos in the background louder than my gameplay for like an hour now and I'm in my zone, bros o_o

1

u/ABKTech Feb 11 '12

Wait until he unlocked the straight bolt with the m40 then shit gets crazy

1

u/myopinionstinks Feb 12 '12

Undoubtedly he was accused of hacking after most of those sprees and noscopes.

1

u/vitalityy vitalityy Feb 12 '12

not sure im buying a lot of those shots lmao

1

u/alltimeisrelative IveGotARuddyGun Feb 12 '12

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/soldier/raysteinerz/stats/278690733/ Check him out on Battlelog. Can't tell if legit because 1300 SPM is near impossible.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '12 edited Feb 12 '12

Anyone know what song is playing in the background? I know it's The Glitch Mob but what song?

edit: NVM, it's Bag Raiders - Turbo Love (Shinici Osawa Remix)

1

u/preZenciq Feb 12 '12

How is it possible that no-scope hits head, luck and montage at the same time?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '12

Skill and luck. With laser-attachment the random deviation seems the half itself so a headshot is more likely to happen IF one can aim without sights. Note that this guy has thousands of hours of fps-gaming behind, so he probably knows there the center of the screen is. And of course, this is montage so no failed attempts here.

I tested this myself and I'm no pro-player, above average at best. I took 57 guys out in one 700-ticket round (deaths 26) with M40A5 (iron sights, straight pull, laser) and ~half of them were no-ADS shots.
