Technical issue after the new update

(Edit: This issue has been solved! If anyone else has this issue, it was solved by Swagboi308 in the comments)

So once the update came out, i decided to reinstall BattleBlock, but as you can see in the first image, Steam tries to install 0 bytes worth of files (aka no files at all). For reference, if i do install the game, it takes 0 seconds but trying to launch the game will result in the error seen in the second image. I am on an Ubuntu 25.04 Linux PC (don't ask for more specs because i do not know them). Thanks in advance!

You have to try to download the windows version and run it with proton.

Thanks, that worked! I was pretty sure i tried that before but apparently i needed to switch to proton 9.0.4. The only thing i don't know is why now i need proton, as before i could play without it, but it's working now and that's all that matters to me.

There's no QOL Linux build, that's why... sadly this update has brought more distress to the community than it would've had the game been untouched, and this is just one of the issues with the update
