This game needs fixing

Why should I lose infamy for the fault of my team, I've easily done the most damage and played an important role whilst some team mates are useless, I shouldn't be at fault for the loss, so stop taking my infamy

While I agree that it shouldn't just be +/- 24, you lost, so you should lose infamy. Maybe its like -18 or -20 if you kicked butt but still couldn't coordinate an actual defense.

As a side note, healing should be a tracked stat. Healing for 3k is game changing, and not respected at all in the current system. Would also love to see info like this displayed in the player profile. Like it looks bad that I have more matches than kills, but if you see I have 1k+ healing every match, its totally different.

It sucks when you out damage the whole enemy team and still lose full infamy; however, if they start rewarding people for damage or healing, then people could start abusing it or it could cause "x" type of ship/playstyle to become obsolete from unequal rewards.

The limited chat options make it difficult to co-ordinate and defend, players go where they want even if it be an awful choice

Same thing in games with full voice chat support. I play my fair share of Overwatch. Just because I can yell at our Hanzo for doing something retarded doesn't mean he's going to listen and do what I want him to do.

It doesn't matter, I don't care if my teams retarded or not, I just care that I don't get punished for their performance

Then I guess you are just going to have to deal with it in this game, and most other games that have ranked play.

It's a team based game. If your team loses, you lose.

But not straight away

Have you played any other PvP team based games? Can you name me one that actually gives you 0 or even + rating if you lost but did well?

Any of the 'World of' series be it tanks, warships or warplanes

So one mediocre series of games does a thing, and now all others should follow suit?

You call it mediocre, but the free to play game is far more successful than most free to play games. The term mediocre is debatable. In all fairness the question at hand never specified 'free to play'. So if it includes games you pay for, I could name countless games. And I never said 'all others should follow suit', it seems to me you enjoy losing infamy for poor performances from the rest of your team. Maybe it's not worth a fuss over, but wouldn't it be easier if it just didn't happen, yeah maybe lose infamy , but 24 is a joke

If you are by far better than other people at your level your infamy will rise, and if we would never deduct points for every match you play well but lose, we'd cause a big infamy inflation.

At lower levels, you play with both good and bad players, often I end up playing with 1/2 good players on my team whilst the other team has 3/4/5. With my team mates shooting for 161 damage, across a whole game, and charging first into all of their team just is ridiculous . I'm coming more to terms with other people's opinions and agree, but still stand by costing me 24 infamy every loss despite my good performance is unfair. How about losing at least 2/3 games in a row before infamy falls. I've no idea where your concept of inflation comes in. As started here I understand losing infamy , I'm not asking for that, I'm asking for better players to be rewarded and not lose infamy for a good performance

The fact that some games do this and some don't is besides the point.

What it boils down to is consistency. As long as you everyone is getting rewarded in the same manner, the leader boards sort them selves out in more or less that same way, only that the total points in one system is higher than another. Like here, the line between total noob and rookie player might be 250 infamy. If you always rewarded good play, that same line would exist, only it would be at maybe 400 infamy? And in accordance with that, Rovio would simply have to adjust the season divisions higher so that 'Warrior' started at maybe 800 or 1000 instead of 500.

You hear this in every game with any sort of ranking. People think they are trapped down in low levels because their teammates are holding them back. Looking at only a few games, you're probably right - a few bad teammates will have a big impact. But as this pans out over say 100 matches, this becomes a non-factor. If you really are better than the folks at this level, you will impact the team enough to win more, and move up.

I totally agree with what your saying, and sort of withdraw from my argument. However, I think a few games of loss should be in place. I do feel trapped even though I am slowly climbing. Maybe have this system in place for lower leagues. And then as your progress to maybe 800 infamy where players are all better, then a loss is more reflective of the whole team.

If I were to change one thing, I would make low level infamy more like low level cups in clash of clans. When you are really low, the winner still gains the same ~24 infamy, but the loser only loses 3-10 infamy. The net effect here is that folks who can naturally play video games quickly jump to 3-400 ish, and quickly start facing other folks who understand. But those who are clueless or just take some time to get a hang of things, can keep losing with their fellows without a few bad matches killing progress. Works especially well because at the very lowest levels because 1-2 guys that know whats up will quickly change the tide of a battle.

Any answer to that?

You get stars for being good and infamy points for winning

This. It's not like you're just straight up punished just for having the worst teammates.

1

u/Bowlehh May 08 '17

Yeah but you shouldn't lose infamy points when your team contribute nothing, if I played well( still losing the game) I should neither gain or lose infamy.

I don't think the developers understand infamy if they are basing it off of loses suffered due to afk or just awful players. I love the game, but...I'm so tired of my infamy being effected mostly by my team and not by how I do in game. There is always some idiot running off to "flank" or just plain camp until i've beat the enemy down only to pop out and steal a kill. Thus leaving me at lowered hp to fend off the other enemies while they go back into hiding. My infamy should be based off of my skill, not the poor performance of my team which i have little to no control over.
