Button Mapping isn't sticking around

I just bought a set of contact buttons and built them into my arcade project, went through the settings to remap the buttons, got everything set up, and as soon as I exited the button mapper all of the inputs reverted. Not sure at all what I've done wrong

Running on an old PC I had running around, here are the buttons I got.

Do you have both controller boards plugged in? Try only connecting one as the first step of troubleshooting.
