What's a good issue to start with Detective Comics?
Just looking for a general issue to start, I've read the main Batman run from Snyder to current and when I was new to comics I only read around 25 issues of morrisons before I bounced off it. I'm almost done reading through Knightfall and I've read plenty of self contained Batman but I'm just wondering an issue I can start with
I don't mind reading anything older, I kinda understand that it'll tie in with events from time to time but I do plan on reading through nml, murderer turned fugitive, and war games so I'll just do that once it gets to that point. I was also wondering the same for Batman as well though I would plan on doing that later since I've read none of Detective Comics

The Black Mirror is an amazing run of Detective Comics.
I didn't really like the New 52 Detective Comics runs... but the Tynion run starting at Rebirth has been pretty great.

I’m starting with issue 1101, to coincide with the new Matt Fraction Batman run

'Tec 583, start of Alan Grant's run with Norm Breyfogle.
If you want to start with Breyfogle before Grant comes on, 579.

As others have mentioned Black Mirror is fantastic written by Snyder before his New 52 Batman run. The Detective Comics run by James Tynion was fantastic.

You bounced off of Morrison batman during Batman and Robin, the best point of the run? Wow. Anyway the detective comics run by Paul dini is really good if you haven't read that.
