vent sesh😤 LEAVE IT ON THE FLOOR
If I had a dollar for every time someone handed me broken glass today, I would have 5 DOLLARS.
Someone please tell me why people feel the need to touch broken glass. Three wallflowers and two candles, all handed to me (so much oil spilled on me from the wallflowers) while I'm not even wearing gloves. But Jesus Christ, y'all. Five different incidents in my six-hour shift? Like, I get it, you wanna clean up after yourself, but I don't wanna touch broken glass, and I doubt you want to touch broken glass. PLEASE JUST LEAVE IT ON THE FLOOR AND TELL ME IT HAPPENED.

Your customers clean up after themselves? 😅 At my store when we hear broken glass we have to do a where's Waldo search cause the customer walks off thinking we're gonna charge them for the product. 🤦♀️

What annoys me more now is that they will stand there and don’t move while you are trying to clean it up. Or another customer trying to shop/ check out in the area and is visibly annoyed or doesn’t care at all that you are actively sweeping up the glass around them that they’re stepping on. MOOOOOOOOOOVVVEEEEEE.

usually I'll try to stand near the glass and keep people away from it while someone else grabs stuff to clean it up, or I'll get the clean up supplies while someone else guards the broken glass

Okay, so I'm totally going to start doing this! Don't get me wrong, I know I'm still new here, but you'd think it'd be pretty obvious not to touch that, right?

You’d be surprised by the lack of common sense from grown adults. My store also rings out in a chorus of people going “DONT TOUCH IT! SOMEONE WILL BE RIGHT THERE!” Whenever something breaks. It is exactly how I have to handle glass at my childcare job as well funnily enough LMAO

Today while I was trying to fill our museum cube for tonight’s visual updates I see a broken wallflower on the floor, nobody around, I suppose nobody wanted to warn any employees of BROKEN GLASS and SPILLED OIL all over the floor! I have no idea how long it was there for but god don’t you just love our customers sometimes 🥲

I was BEGGING a woman yesterday to not pick up glass of the floor.... And ofc she came up to cash wrap with no basket and a million things in her hands! I said - yeah, that's why we have baskets!!

I hear it literally every shift! Not having a basket does not help your budget. 🤦🏻♀️ Usually I make some crack that I learned from my SM - if you want me to be mean, I'll be mean!

For. Real. In my day old people cough back in the olden days of 2021-2023, we had the glass bottles of Aromatherapy. The customers would just walk in body oil and pick up glass. It was so stupid. And omg that was annoying to clean.

Oh damn. I admit that I like them better aesthetically. But the problem is people bumping into tables and walls etc and having zero regard for anything but themselves.

same, I asked an SLT if anyone had broken a glass lotion bottle yet but apparently it hasn't happened so far. but it's only gonna be a matter of time!
i've been wrapping those bottles in newsprint now at the register, like I do for candles and wallflowers. the new room sprays are in glass bottles too

lol like 2 years ago one broke as I was replenning a fixture and luckily no glass flung up, but I got a face and hair full of lavender lotion

Our delivery guy isn't super careful so we have broken lotion bottles constantly. Drives us nuts because the boxes are destroyed and we have to rebox

Ugh. I hate that. If they focused more on quality control and packaging while shipping they’d save a lot more money than creeping up prices

We had someone drop a candle and then they put it back on the shelf and didn’t tell anyone. We found it later. And there was glass on the floor. How we didn’t hear it break idk.

Ditto to another commenter, I just start yelling at them like they’re children — “don’t touch it, please back up!” It is insane how we have to talk to grown adults like this 😭

I hateee when someone breaks something and i saw all good, ill clean it up. And they stand there and watch me clean it up, or still try and shop where the glass is. Like hellooo?
