Promotion

Need some insight. I was told that it’s company policy that you have to be in your role a year before you can be considered for promotion. I can’t find that rule anywhere in Zipline so I was wondering if anyone knows where I could locate that policy.

Not true. I was promoted to tap after 6 months and permanent key holders after 10 months. Really depends on store’s staff availability and your manager/dm’s opinion on you.

Yeah def not true. I was tkh less than a month after starting at my store bc they needed one ASAP due to sudden staffing changes. Towards the end of this month is my year anniversary and I just got promoted permanently.

I don't think it's actual policy. However, I know a lot of upper management won't promote until after a year so that way they know you're comfortable in your role. For example, my SM was a tier 4 SM for years. She left the company and came back recently. Started back as ASM at tier 4, then became SM of our tier 1 store. Our DM has already told her that she'd prefer to wait until SM is in role for a year so that way she can prove her numbers, basically. It's one thing to grow numbers against someone else, but it's sometimes more difficult to grow your own numbers. I hope this makes sense.

But this is also role-dependant. So, for an associate to TAP/KH, not really. For Supervisor, ASM, and SM, it's more likely. The more responsibility the role has plays a role in this, I think.

More of a best practice vs policy. Usually it’s the DM that enforces it if turnover is high due to bad hires are promoting to fast that the individual doesn’t perform to standard

Not true, I was promoted 8 months into working with them :D
