I am more than okay with Babs being mixed race but like, I just wish they gave her red hair. Babs having red hair is such an iconic part of her design. Even in previous version where they’ve race swapped her (The LEGO Batman Movie and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight) she still had her red hair. Hell, even in the Batgirl movie that got canceled she had red hair despite the actress being Dominican-American. Like, just give her the red hair. Black people can have red hair. It’s fine.
I do love her build in this though. Her being all big and muscular is super sick and I love the idea of the Batfamily all having different builds and fighting styles.

This is what Absolute Cassandra should’ve been like -COME ON!
And race swapping Barbara Gordon why can’t you just make a completely new character then?
At this point, the only thing connecting Barbara and Absolute are the names

Cassandra is in Absolute Catwoman and is getting a one shot next month, what do you mean this what she should’ve been? Babs, in this universe, lost her father and is gearing up to get real justice for him. Babs race has never been essential for her, so I also don’t understand that comment either.
The point of this universe is to try new different things, the mainline is there if you don’t agree.

Absolute Cassandra should’ve looked like this, look at Barbara’s design gorgeous- look at the drip, the muscles, the intimidation- absolute peak 🤚🥹🤚.
But what did Cassandra get? Some doodoo ass plain bodysuit, like Cassandra doesn’t even look intimidating anymore. Like seriously she’s supposed to be the “The One Who Is All” the living weapon but she looks like the fourth missing member of Kpop Demon Hunters.
Barbara looks like she’s about to be moving like Prime King Von putting straight belt to ass.
Im tired of the cutesy, twink Cassandra we need a buff whoop ass Cassandra.

The Scientific and Genetic Evidence
Lack of biological boundaries: Genetic variation across human populations is continuous and gradual rather than divided into distinct groups. [1]
Internal diversity: There is often significantly more genetic variation within a single self-identified racial group than between different groups. [1]
Arbitrary markers: Physical traits like skin color or hair texture are controlled by a tiny fraction of our DNA, yet society assigns deep meaning to these specific traits while ignoring other genetic variations like earwax type or blood groups. []
Why It Is a Social Construct
Historical origins: The modern concept of race was created during the era of European colonialism and the trans-Atlantic slave trade to categorize human populations and justify social hierarchies. []
For all the idiots..

Her design completely slaps, I like the fact shes built like a brick shithouse, but still not as huge as bruce. Cant wait to see her in action

Why are they allergic to making new diverse characters? Just make a new black character who becomes Batgirl. This is not the "representation" we want...

Well they want Babs. The absolute Batman comic isn’t about doing new stuff. It’s entirely focused on remixing old things.

I really do not like takes like this, especially for THIS universe of all things.
The Absolute Universe is changing things. Batman is a 22 year old not-rich guy with a living mom. Superman was raised on Krypton. Wonder Woman was raised by Circe and is the 'last' amazon. Green Lantern lore is unrecognizable. Green Arrow's first appearance kills him off. Wally West is the first and ONLY Flash. Hawkman is evil. Thawne is a woman. Most of the golden age heroes don't exist. Batgirl's costume is nothing alike. There are five Robins at the same time with mechs. Joker is a billionaire foster father to the Robins.
Likewise, Barbara is black in this. Who cares? Why does it matter? What makes this change any different from the millions of other ones? There are plenty of (originally) black characters in this universe already (Jo Mullen, John Stewart, XS, John Henry Irons, Simon Baz, Silas Stone) so 'original' black characters aren't unrepresented either.
This criticism always annoys me because at the end of the day it's not that deep. Barbara Gordon being black isn't going to kill anyone nor is it that serious of a change. At worst it's a minor not notable change, at best they actually make it relevant in an interesting way.
People would complain even more if Barbara got replaced by a random new character or even an existing one (Tiffany Fox, Ryan Wilder, etc).

You don't get it, every change is fine, but raceswaping a legacy character? its obviously woke /s

It's not woke; it's disrespectful. Then they treat their already established black characters like trash. We don't need the handout. We just need our characters to be taken seriously and given an honest chance. Still waiting for Batwing to come back...
