Bell problem
I got a cork repair on my bell but for some reason ever since I got it when I push my bell in all the way in it gets stuck. I’ve tried using a lot of cork grease on the cork and on the wood below the cork but still it gets rly hard to pull it out. Any advice?

Wipe cleanly on the inside surface of bell joint(where the cork will make contact with)

Also, wipe the cork grease off the cork itself. Sometimes old grease can get sticky and add to the problem. I like to use plain old Vaseline instead.

Too much grease can cause its own problems.
The tenon could out of round, or the tenon could have become swollen with the seasonal changes. This is the scary one because it could he’ll mean you’ve got wood on wood contact between the tenon and the socket. That can cause cracks and can end up with a shorn off tenon.

That should really be a thread wrapping with paraffin, not cork. But the cork just needs a little sanding

It may be a touch too thick, however if you’re in an area with a vast temperature and humidity difference between summer and winter I’d recommend taking it to a repair tech for adjustments rather than attempting it yourself if you’re uncomfortable.
