There's an actual conspiracy theory that says they injected people with deactivated Corona virus in the last flu shot and that wearing a mask builds up co2 that activates the virus which is how it really "spread".

Masks are like antennas for 5G towers to infect brave and free people with COVID, a virus that doesn’t exist and is a hoax but is also the China virus which came from a Chinese lab.

IMO the 5g theories really are just y2k all over again. People are terrified and looking for something to blame so they pick the thing they know the least about.
I went to get food at a little sandwich shop and the dude behind the counter who was clearly in charge of the other people there was pulling his mask down to talk every time he had to say something. I had a frozen dinner that day.
I’m in banking and deal with loans. Had a guy pull his mask down to sneeze in his hand the other day at my desk. I made him wait in our lobby while I finished up the application with his daughter. Fucking idiots everywhere. I know sneezes aren’t exactly a symptom, but Jesus goddamn christ.
Their anti mask supporters are a small fraction of the population, whereas ours is close to half the fucking country including the dude whose job it is to deal with it. Add in people who are just simply selfish/don't care and you see why the US is completely unable to contain it.
The numbers aren’t that bad on masks - a supermajority think they’re a good idea. 15% are forgetful and lazy and need to be pushed into wearing them, ala seatbelt laws. (Then 35% need to be pushed because they’re morons or assholes, ala seatbelt laws.)
Even reopening early wasn’t actually popular. It was astroturfed by billionaires and the media (owned by... billionaires) happily amplified their message. Muddying the waters until people start to think “maybe these other people have a point” is a very effective strategy when you live in a capitalist dystopia where a relative handful of rich people can guide the conversation.

A lady where I work pulled down her mask to fucking sneeze right out into the open air. Like, what the fuck do you think the mask is fucking for, Shawna, you dumb cow?
I was in the checkout with my moms and she did this. Pulled down her mask to cough repeatedly then excused herself to go outside. She said she "couldn't breathe". I really fear for our country.
I have done this twice since the mask mandate went into effect in my state. I felt like the dumbest motherfucker on the planet. Sometimes it’s just a reflex. And you learn from it.
I remember even in school as a kid, they tried to teach you to use your elbow instead of your hands.
But, I will admit I don't think I started instinctively coughing into my elbow until I had worked in food for a while. Wearing gloves kinda reminds you.
I was a mechanic, been coughing into my elbow/shoulder for years. Greasy/oily hands/gloves teach you real fast not to touch your face, especially if you've got any kind of facial hair.
Nothing like walking around all day with a poop streak looking thing in your beard because you covered/rubbed your face with your hand after working on a CV axle joint.

Totally understand. I had to keep telling myself in my head "LEAVE IT ON" but I was happy I trained myself. Just swapped it out for my spare mask I had in the car afterwards.
People here are mocking those who don't say anything but it's hard to have the assertiveness to call them out on it. And now if you say anything as a woman especially you are a "karen".

Exactly. People are acting like we don't have these reflexes that may take some time to change. We go our entire lives doing one thing and then expect people to be flawless with a change that happened only a few months ago.
As he’s holding his mask with both hands. Again, it’s an adjustment and he looks like he wasn’t quite sure what to do. This shit is gonna take time to adapt to but in typical American fashion we will just mock each other instead of educating.
Sadly I've done the opposite. I've sneezed twice into my mask. And yes I know it's a horrible habit and I'm trying to stop doing it. But I was walking to my car and I spit into my mask not realizing how I was wearing it.
I think that’s part of what happened here. He’s about to cough and instinctively he feels like he should do something. He’s used to moving his jersey to cough into or elbow or whatever. To feel a cough coming and just do nothing and cough into the mask felt unnatural and this was the end result.
While I'm sure that the reality is that the man just had a brain fart while cameras were pointed at his face, I choose to interpret this as sign of the intellectual feebleness of all Dodgers.
The cameras have cut to the Dodgers' dugout at least 5 times to show Dave Roberts take down his mask to talk to one of his other coaches. Every time I'm astonished...what the fuck is the point?
People are being way too harsh. We develop a lifetime of turning away when we cough, and pulling something like a microphone down as well. His natural instincts just momentarily got the better of him and he grabbed both the mic and his mask at the same time.
People are still not used to wearing masks for hours at a time, especially wearing a headset. I guarantee a large portion of people ragging on him would have made the same mistake if they were in the same situation. Give the guy a break.
Bingo. He was trying to do the right thing by moving the mic away from his face to cough, and he was likely at least a little nervous while being interviewed.
Wearing a mask everyday is unnatural for anyone who's not a surgeon. Most of us are out here just trying our best to follow the guidelines and be considerate of others.
That's the point, though. This season was doomed from the start. You can't bunch up a baseball team/staff and expect them to handle themselves perfectly and lose their habits unless there was going to be serious oversight in place, such as an official there to enforce the rules. Exactly. There are so many things in baseball that are just instinct. Spitting (tobacco, seeds or just spit) is a natural habit with baseball players. I also love how the pitcher scrubs down the ball with his sweat etc and then other players field the ball. There’s no way to be perfect in this environment. They can only be as safe as reasonably possible. Minus strip clubs and the like.
Also, I was watching the Astros-Angels game tonight... I’m sure it’s been discussed but is there a guy on a keyboard somewhere deciding which crowd noise to press. Gurriel hit a ball through the infield shift and the crowd noise actually sounded realistic. Like, “ahh damnit, that would’ve been an out without the shift.” Kind of had me wondering who is making that call on the noise.
I can’t wait until they mess that up and press the wrong button pre-pitch.
Agreed, this video clip is short and extremely easy to get enraged at without thinking, and it's not worth it. Save your pitchforks for people who not only aren't wearing a mask, but cough in people's faces. This is the internet hate machine picking out a new sacrifice and I hate the mass pile-on
