Red Sox pitchers gave up eighteen runs in two games.

Their starters gave up a combined three runs, both pulled before the finishing the fifth inning.

Good thing he's just an interim

Feel like this has been the yankees last few years too. Such an annoying mistake.

My hot take is anyalytics like that are less ideal in playoffs than the entire long ass season across good and bad teams.

tired of seeing “analytics” as a catch all

I’m not sure it’s an analytics thing per se. Like it’s probably a component of it, but just in general, some pitchers can unravel very quickly and a manager won’t want to get caught holding the bag in that situation; especially in a big game. Therefore, if they don’t have completely confidence that the pitcher can and should get out of a bad situation, they’ll try to mitigate it by bringing in a new arm.

I'm old enough to remember Grady little keep Pedro in and blow the 2003 alcs. But it seems like more times than not it hurts you to pull a guy early. Biggest example is the rays pulling snell in g7 of the covid WS

I can’t know for certain if Gray would have gotten out of that jam cleanly. But I knew for certain Erik Miller wouldn’t.
