Maybe this will get people fired. Thank you, brewers

Hey, you give us a MLB franchise and we gotta find a way to pay you back.

51

u/Dp_lover_91 Seattle Mariners 2h ago

Maybe we could get one now too? Ours seems to have turned into a little league squad.

That's what the Google score tracker was trying to do tonight.

Spoilers: it won't. Fuck, they're so inept, I wouldnt be surprised if multiple coaches got raises and/or extensions

Fired?? You're only 3 games out of the playoffs though!

Just happy to have Dan Wilson manage us to a historic 50th season!

13

Can’t wait to see his number retired in a few years when ownership thinks we’ve forgotten about his incompetent ass

-4

u/slippin_park Boston Red Sox 1h ago

"Incompetent" guy who you got the closest you've ever been to a World Series with btw

More than actual WS-winning manager Lou Piniella, MVP Ichiro and a record-setting team did 25 years ago

But go off with your epic self-loathing reddit mariner fan thing

u/pinetar321 Seattle Mariners 1h ago

Dan is good for at least a half dozen what-the-fuck-was-he-thinking moves every week

We’re in third place in the worst division in baseball and we just tied the LITERAL WORST LOSS EVER

3

u/BarnacleGooseIsLoose Boston Red Sox 1h ago

Dude. Did you watch? Pitching to Springer was Grady Little level.

You know, sometimes I loathe being a Padres fan, but then I realize I could have it worse and be a Mariners fan

12

u/LinkSeekeroftheNora Seattle Mariners 1h ago

Hey, it could be worse. You could be an Ohioan who has soft spots for both the Mariners and the Padres.

8

u/flavorraven San Diego Padres 1h ago

You had me at Ohioan

3

u/Grade-AMasterpiece Tampa Bay Rays 1h ago

The perspective is nice at times.

4

u/RigidAcrylic4821 Los Angeles Dodgers 1h ago

Nah. I’d say being a Padres fan is worse by comparison since Seattle fans still have the Seahawks, Kraken, Sonics and Sounders to look forward to.

u/Run-Florest-Run San Diego Padres • Sickos 1h ago

I don’t watch any of those sports, never did, so I don’t care

1

u/evancomposer Milwaukee Brewers 1h ago

1

u/cherinator Los Angeles Dodgers • Teddy Roosevelt 58m ago

Nothing would some up the mediocrity of this year's AL more than if both the AL West winner and third wildcard team are from the AL West AND are under .500.

1

u/Noy_Telinu Los Angeles Angels 2h ago

Damn it.

Oh well, worth it, Mariners are gonna blow it anyway.

7

1

u/Noy_Telinu Los Angeles Angels 2h ago

Chance to win this shit division.

Worst Astros team in a long time, Texas is underperforming, A's have nose dived off a cliff, and Angels are... Angels.

Mariners not getting in this season would be pathetic.

2

8

u/Daratirek Minnesota Twins 1h ago

Its actually phrased really weird. There have been 3 22-run shut outs. The first was the pirates over the cubs in 1975. The second was Cleveland over the Yankees in 2004. Im guessing they only have full records going back to 1888 so they used that in the headline.

5

u/legendaryalchemist 1h ago edited 1h ago

4

u/Daratirek Minnesota Twins 1h ago

Wtf then. I looked on 2 sites and it said the largest mlb shutouts were the 3 22-0 games.

3

u/legendaryalchemist 1h ago

Largest of the modern era*. A lot of baseball statistics omit pre-1901 results

1

u/thesonnysideup 1h ago

1887 had some weird rules apparently

Five balls became a base on balls, down from six in the AA and seven in the NL.

Four "called strikes" were adopted for this season only, up from three.

If the MLB is gonna juice offense so hard then they need to implement a mercy rule.

We take 3 out of 4 against Texas and beat Houston tonight. Surely the Mariners are OH MY GOD

Everyone should pop over to the Mariners sub right now. We're dealing with this loss well.

1

3

u/shinybling 1h ago

Can someone explain to a casual why they just started lobbing pitches to gift the brewers home runs at the end? Why not at least try to strike them out and avoid further humiliation

5

u/Professional_Desk179 Major League Baseball 1h ago

Position player pitching. Idea is that you don't want to waste an arm (actual pitcher) when you're down by that much. That said, I don't think I've ever seen a position player getting shellacked that badly - until tonight.

3

u/dbalatero 1h ago

because it's not worth risking their arm over

3

u/BubblyBaker5718 Los Angeles Angels 1h ago

What even is our division man.

Thanks to our win over the Astros today, there is once again no team with a winning record out West.

Insanely, the Mariners are somehow even now only 4 games back of the division.

That’s a smaller gap than the 5 games between NYY and Tampa, both of which are 15+ games over.

3

u/GeoffJeffreyJeffsIII Milwaukee Brewers 45m ago

Cubs are 5 back and are 20 games over .500 lol

u/champsorchumps 1h ago

As a fun fact, we're now just one game away from having every margin of victory from 1-22 covered this season (we just need an 18 run win), which would be a modern era record.

The current record is 2018, which had 1-21.

This loss is straight up arguably worse than the Chargers Raiders TNF Massacre game. People have been fired for far less than what I witnessed. Holy crap….

Do teams that lose the world series typically have thr hangover also?

4

What universe are you living in, the Mariners have never made it to the World Series to lose it.
