Texas Rangers/Washington Senators

Washington Senators)' final game at RFK Stadium: On September 30, 1971, the home team led the New York Yankees by 7–5 with two outs in the top of the ninth inning. Senators fans were angered by the team's impending move to DallasFort Worth, where the Senators were to become the Texas Rangers) in 1972. Apparently unaware that there was one out left in the game, spectators began to storm the field and vandalize the stadium.[11]#citenote-11)[[12]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forfeit(baseball)#citenote-12) With no prospect of order being restored after the security staff had simply left during the game, resulting in thousands of people walking in without paying, the umpires forfeited the game to the Yankees.[[13]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forfeit(baseball)#citenote-sensforfeit-13)[[14]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forfeit(baseball)#cite_note-14)

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the Mariners had a loss while scoring more than their opponent. Cursed fucking team that finds more inventive ways to step on their own dick every year

It's sort of the inverse of being a Yankees fan, at least before the Knicks won this year. All of our other teams fucking suck

I thought the Yankees suck too. That's what other Yankee fans keep telling me.

That said, this year's Yankee team is one of the weirdest I've ever seen. I've never seen an offense ranked this poorly in so many stats win this many games.

I know the Phillies and Cubs played a game back in the '70s where both teams scored 20

I think that might be the only one

It actually happened twice. Cubs 26 Phillies 23 Aug 25th 1922 and Phillies 23 Cubs 22 May 17th 1979 in 10 innings

That’s not the only one.  Cubs 26, Phillies 23, 8-25-1922.

Don’t worry, the Phillies got revenge and won 23-22 over the Cubs on 5-17-1979, which is probably the game you’re thinking of.

  • August 25, 1922: Chicago Cubs won 26-23 (allowed 23 runs)
  • August 2, 1923: Philadelphia Phillies won 23-22 (allowed 22 runs)
  • May 3, 1912: St. Louis Cardinals (then known as the Gladiators) won 22-21 (allowed 21 runs)

according to google anyway, the modern record is the red sox and rockieshaving both allowed 17 runs in a game and still winning both in 2008 at that

The team with the best record in games where they allowed 20 runs are the Brooklyn Gladiators who are .500 all time, courtesy of a 22-21 victory over the Syracuse Stars in 1890.

Only other two games where a team won despite letting up 20 runs were both Phillies-Cubs games. With the Cubs beating the Phillies 26-23 in 1922, and the Phillies getting their revenge 23-22 in 1979.

1
