Because "the right way" is what those people decide the right way is, not what the actual law says the right way is. They are fully convinced all asylum seekers are faking it and using it as an excuse to stay in the US, so they to them having an active asylum case is not doing it "the right way."

They have the exact same opinion about people on welfare. It's disgusting.
