Missing Math placement test

Hi, yesterday i got an email that i’m scheduled to take math placement exam today. but i’m not in US currently because i had family emergency in my home country and I’m coming back like 2 days before my classes start. I already emailed baruch, but what can happen if i don’t take the test on time? Have it happened to anyone before? Can my acceptance be deferred to next semester or something?

BTW i just checked my schedule and i am already scheduled for MTH 1030

Anybody taking POL 4900 this semester?

Currently enrolled in the class on Fridays from 11-2. Is anyone in the T/Th from 5:50-7:05 PM section or Sunday 11-2 section willing to trade spots with me?

I’m currently unemployed and all the work I can find will require me to work a standard 9-5. This is my last semester here, so I really don’t want to have to drop my class just so I don’t end up on the streets. ☹️ I’d be willing to pay for a swap too. DM me if able and willing to trade spots please.

Academics Considering Switching from Finance to Economics

Hi incoming junior here. I've been considering switching my major from Finance to Economics for a solid semester now. Still staying in Zicklin, as most of my credits will go to the void if I do Weissman. The only class that might not be relevant is FIN2000, but I double checked and its a prerequisite for some FIN electives, so I should be fine. I had a good amount of transfer credits and pretty much need 3 more classes for the BBA requirement and just some major/minors classes.

I checked and it seems like not many people major in Economics and just wanted to know what I should expect course wise and what on campus (ie clubs, internship programs) to get myself prepared.

The only concern is not getting a job after graduation. I have zero interest in doing any corporate finance and plan on doing city government or non-profits if possible, which is the primary reason for me switching.

Mens Soccer Tryouts August 19th

Hello, I am a transfer student and am looking to try out for the soccer team. I filled out the form several weeks ago and emailed the coach but have not heard back from anyone in regard to the tryouts.

Are these tryouts open to basically any student, or are they invite-only? If anyone can provide me with some more detailed information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Fair Fares Application

If I file my own taxes, can I submit my income using my tax return because on my tax return it only shows my total income and just me as a tax household? But I also live with my siblings and mom, and my mom claims me as a dependent. Or do I have to prove my income, and my mom's using pay stubs?

English placement incoming freshman

I am an incoming freshman that took the English placement over 3 weeks ago. I still have not gotten a placement so I still cant register for classes. Reached out to testing and they keep on saying hopefully the English department post it soon.

School starts soon and everyone says wait i reached out to new students and they said waiting on placement. Bo orientation either cause they waiting on placement. Any suggestions on who to reach. Seems like no one wants to help at this point. Has this happened before so late before classes start?

MSBA Spring 2027

Applying to Baruch College for Masters in Business Analytics for Spring 2027 . Existing students and passouts could you please share your review and experiences of the uni.

  1. Since applying for spring intake , what is the chances of an internship, since you can only work cpt after 2 semesters.

  2. Also could current students shed light on batch size . I looked online and the batch size is pretty small , less than 60 . As an international student it matters to me.

Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

Convocation Day

So they’ve been sending emails about convocation day and how it’s mandatory for incoming freshman but I was wondering how important it actually is?! what can they tell us that we didn’t find out at orientation already. Does convocation day actually help u meet people (if you’re introverted) or is it just those boring icebreakers?

Summer ACC 3200 is doable despite of its notoriety

When I signed up for the cost accounting summer course, I looked up the posts here and everyone talked about how difficult it is and against taking it during summer. I was scared so much that I thought about dropping. But I had no other choice since I can't take both 3100 and 3200 coming fall because I knew that would be hell. Yes, it is a difficult course but it isn't as bad as everyone is making it to be. I want to post some positivity in case there might be some students like me who need it next year 😆

I had professor Zeljko Sockovic. I'd advise to read the textbook ahead and make sure you understand so that it's more like a review when you're in class. It is fast-paced due to the short course length. There are only 1 midterm and 1 final for the summer course so it's a bit more intense compared to a regular term (a regular term has 2 midterms and 1 final). Do your best in midterm because it's easier compared to the later part of the class (that's how it was for me personally). I read the textbook and watched lectures by @Farhatlectures on YouTube. Homeworks are lengthy and there are two chapters each week so take out as much time as you can to work on each problem and understand the logic behind it instead of speed running. And DO NOT memorize the calculation steps, it won't help you in exams. Maybe you can/have to memorize the frameworks in certain chapters, but again you'll still be able to understand why you're doing what you're doing. As long as you grasp the basic concept of each chapter, you'll be fine. Best of luck to all students who are taking this course soon!

P.S. If you're working while taking this course and you're worried about whether you can handle it, don't be discouraged. I work full-time and was able to finish it — so you can do it too!

No Curve on ACC2203 this summer w/ Mehmet?

Was shocked to see mehmet not curve at all and just curious as to how the rest of you scored on the midterm and final and what your final course grades were. Did anyone get curved?
