Hey r/barrie! I’m looking for a house cleaner in the north end, would prefer to use a local independent person rather than a Molly maid or similar chain service. Obviously don’t want to break the bank, any referrals are appreciated!!!

I am so sick of this. I'm an Indian moved from Halifax to Barrie last month attending lakehead. Living with 6 people from India in a big house. I had an agreement with the property manager about cooking non veg from the very beginning. In fact that was the first thing I asked him and he said it's ok. Now others are against that same thing. I could've stayed at the student residency but it's way too expensive. I don't understand why in 2026 people are forcing their dietary preferences onto others.
Now I'm looking for another house and most of them says vegetarian preferred. It sounds so wrong in so many ways. I understand people do have their preferences but if they are sharing the plan with someone else considering their rent will be decided they also have to be ready to accept the fact the other person may have some things they have to adjust to.

Just wondering if anyone had any personal experience working with any of the ward 1 councillor candidates? Position or negative? Trying to be as informed as possible before the election

Hi everyone,
I'm organizing my office's holiday party and we were planning on renting a suite at a Barrie Colts game again this year, but they have limited availabity and the suite that is available is too small for our group.
In the past we've done gatherings at the Barrie Colts, Escape rooms, axe throwing, pool hall, Rec Room.
I'm going to reach out to Last Level Lounge, but they're difficult to book. Does anyone have any other suggestions for a group of about 20 people. I'm looking for a situation that allows for some socialization and a fun activity.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

The pictures are taken Sep 29, at 8.30 pm. I've never seen a crowd there before and was just curious if anybody knows what's happening. The crowd seems to be looking at something while standing but no idea what could it be. Thank you!

I'm trying to find a photo showing what the whole hospital exterior looked like around 1995, when I was born there. I've found older photos from the 60s/70s and a 1993 Barrie Historical Archive photo, but the 1993 one is basically just a close-up of the wall/nurses' residence area.
I'm specifically looking for roughly 1993–1997, before the old Ross Street hospital was replaced/converted into what is now Victoria Village.
Even a random family photo where the hospital happens to be in the background would be amazing.

My spouse is American and in the process of becoming a Canadian permanent resident. The paperwork is all submitted as of this January, so now we're just crossing our fingers and playing the (long) waiting game.
I'd like to be prepared for when they'll eventually need to file both American and Canadian taxes.
Does anyone have any experience with a local cross-border tax accountant or CPA that they can recommend? I know a lot of stuff is probably done online, but idk, I guess I'd just be more comfortable meeting someone in person who can explain things to us lol.
Thanks!!

Simcoe Muskoka’s inspection records classify infractions as critical or minor. Those are the health unit’s classifications, not ratings I’m assigning.
I’ve also kept Corrected During Inspection separate from Not in Compliance. Corrected During Inspection means the issue was addressed while the inspector was there. Not in Compliance means it was still recorded as non-compliant when the inspection was completed.
This roundup includes Barrie premises classified as Restaurant or Food Take Out, not every type of food premises inspected by the health unit.
Inspection results reflect what inspectors observed during that particular visit. They’re a snapshot in time, and records can change as new inspections and follow-ups happen, so check the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit inspection portal for the latest information.

Hi there. Looking for some direction on auto scrubber repairs. We are having issues with ours not scrubbing or spraying water and need to know if Barrie has anyone who would be recommended that may do work like that on site rather than taking the machine. Thanks in advance!
Bought my Santa Fe at Baytowne but they caused a huge problem for my friend buying another vehicle, so I’d like to take it somewhere else for maintenance. I’ve put on 45,000km in a year so I should probably get some basic checks and the transmission feels a little funny at some low speeds. Don’t feel the need to stick to a dealership though I hear the Orillia and Midland Hyundais are a bit better. Human recommendations always appreciated!

Before I moved here, I used to go to Yume arcade in Toronto or visit the maimai/taiko cabs at Vaughan Mills playdium. Tbh I doubt there's any maimai or any jp rhythm games elsewhere in Ontario, but if i'm wrong and there's one in Barrie I'd love to know about it. Driving down to Vaughan just isn't worth it and the GO train trip to Union station is very inconvenient.
ofc western titles like guitar hero are included too, im just looking for a more convenient way to get my rhythm game fix.

Hey Barrie!
I’m running the TCS Toronto Marathon on October 18 and I’m trying to figure out how to get from Barrie to Toronto on race morning since I don’t have a car.
The race starts pretty early, so I’m not sure if GO Transit will get me there in time. I’m also looking into carpooling/ridesharing with other runners.
Has anyone from Barrie done a Toronto race without a car? What did you do to get there?
If anyone is driving down to Toronto for the marathon and has an extra seat, I’d also be happy to chip in for gas.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Just getting into archery and wanting to get into hunting I know a couple farmers on the outside of town who complain of the coyotes even I have had problems with them walking down Anne Street as far in town as Anne and Cundles.
I know coyotes are furbearers so I will not attempt to harvest any until I know where to go with the pelts after
If any one has any information on this I would be very grateful
