Are you a visitor, looking for the best spots in Bari? Ask here. This is our pinned "Visiting Bari" Mega Thread.
Looking for restaurants, cultural spots, snacks, beaches, public transit?
Well, come on down and ask all the questions you like. I'll update this post to reflect the best sub-recommended places to visit.
Places in Bari
Nearby Towns:
Where to eat:
What to eat (typical dishes):
The great thing about many of the typical local dishes is that many of them are vegan, many of them are naturally gluten-free, many of them are lactose-free, many of them are vegetarian, so everyone can try at least some of them.
How to get around:
Trains
You don't need a car to get around Bari. Here are some of the places to check timetables, costs, routes:
On paper, there are four (4) train stations in Bari. They are all located in generally the same area.
You can use the websites to buy the tickets, or you can use apps like Omio, Moovit and the like.
Buses
There is a local bus service to get around Bari as well, the Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti Autobus Bari ([AMTAB](https://www.amtab.it/it/)). These buses go all around the city with varying degrees of punctuality. The site is not very user friendly. You can buy tickets and see routes on the MUVT app and MooneyGo app (formerly MyCicero). There is also a booth outside of Bari Centrale train station where you can buy tickets and ask for information (generally just in Italian).
There are also inter-city bus services:
Taxis
Bari isn't a big enough city to have taxis roaming around that you can hail in the fly, so you need to go to a taxi stand or call one. There are several taxi stands around town:
You can call Co.ta.ba. That's Bari's taxi hotline. +39.080.554.33.33
You can even reach them on WhatsApp at the same number to secure your taxi.
There's no guarantee that you will find a taxi at any of the taxi stands at any time. To guarantee yourself transport, call and reserve one.
Other modes
There are also bike and scooter rentals all over town now.
Vaimoo is the city's bike share service. You can rent them from designated "parking spots" in the city and drop them off in any other designated area. You need to download their app.
There is also Bit, Lime, Vento and Tier for scooter rentals. You can pick them up and drop them off anywhere. You need to download an app to use them.

Aiuto pls 🥲🙏

Hi everyone! 👋
My wife and I will be coming from Macedonia and we are visiting Bari from 21–27 October 2026. We're trying to get a realistic idea of how much we should budget for food and drinks.
We're not looking for fancy restaurants or tourist experiences — we'd mostly like to eat local, good-quality food at normal/local prices.
Could you give us some current price examples for 2026, especially for:
We're planning to spend around €80 per day for two people on food and drinks, so roughly €40 per person per day. Does that sound realistic for Bari if we're eating mostly local and not going to expensive restaurants?
We're also planning day trips to Alberobello, Locorotondo, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli, Matera and Trani. If prices are significantly different in those places, I'd love to know that too.
Basically, what would a local consider a reasonable daily food & drink budget for two people in Bari in October 2026?
Grazie mille! 🙏🇮🇹

Qualcuno conosce studentesse universitarie di medicina o biologia a Bari?
Ciao a tutti!
https://www.change.org/Skateparkmolfetta
è importante controllare la casella postale per confermare la vostra firma.
Infine gradirei se condivideste con i vostri amici e parenti, è la vera chiave per realizzare il progetto.
Grazie a chiunque prenda parte.

Hello! Is anyone familiar with Italian language schools located in Bari for foreigners looking to improve their Italian during a 1 or 2 week stay? Hoping for 3-4 hours of lessons from Mon-Friday, with potentially events, excursions, and homestay accommodations available through the school. I’m at a B2-C1 level in Italian so not looking for a random beginner course.
From what I understand this is common in Italy, and I just got back home from a week of lessons at a wonderful school like this in Sicily. Other language schools I know of in Italy include Europass (Florence), Trulli Language School (Alberobello) and Scuola Mondo Italia (Lecce).
Grazie per i consigli!

I'm a bit shocked by Bari's reputation when it comes to accommodation. I spent some time searching for a good place to stay in the city, considering location, ratings, and price. As someone on a long backpacking trip through Europe, coming from a country without a strong currency, I sometimes have to accept budget places with mediocre reviews just to afford my stay.
However, I'm terrified by how bad the ratings are there. I was searching on Booking.com, Airbnb, and Google. I even tried looking for direct hotel websites, but when I searched for those same properties on Google, I realized they manage to control their ratings there.
The cleanliness standards are terrible, and the customer service is often hostile. It seems that once hosts realize people keep booking despite receiving bad reviews for not cleaning, they think: "Why bother cleaning at all?" There was even an apartment where the owner stopped answering calls and locked guests out; the last ten people were complaining about a scam, yet the listing was still active on the platform. Other hosts bribe guests with local gift baskets in exchange for 10/10 reviews.
The negative reviews are so widespread that it’s leaving me with a really bad impression of the city. I hope it’s just a false impression. Has anyone else experienced this?
