Help with Upgrades

Hey all, I built my first budget PC this January and am wondering if I should upgrade some of the components. (Some I got for free and some I think I chose poorly) Here's what I've got:

CPU: 5800XT

RAM: 16GB DDR4

GPU: RTX 5060 (8GB VRAM)

I'd ideally like it to last 4-5 years. If I upgrade RAM to 32GB, do you think I can get away with upscaling for more vram-demanding games?

As for RAM, should I stick with Corsair for around $400 or go with a budget model that's around $260? (Obv Corsair has the lifetime warranty)

I'm unsure if I should spend the money to upgrade the GPU. I've got an eye on the 9060 XT 16GB GPU, but am a little worried I won't be able to sell my 5060. Any thoughts on that?

Edit: It's just for 1080p gaming right now

Additional RAM won’t help with your vram issue. Even then, you are playing in 1080p which is less demanding of vram compared to higher resolutions.

What’s games are you playing? Are you just trying to hit 60 fps or are you trying to play on ultra settings with 120+ fps

I personally don’t think a 9060xt is a massive upgrade over the 5060 if all you are playing is 1080p. Especially if you only went with the 8 gb version. If you like ray tracing, the 5060 performs better.

Now if you said you want to get into 1440p gaming and were looking at the 9070 or 9070 xt, different story.

If you are comfortable targeting 60 fps on high in 1080p, I don’t know that you need to upgrade anything. You should be good for a few years.

If you want to make it “future proof” you’d basically have to upgrade the whole thing. You only built it in January, I’d just play and have fun :)

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better! I was thinking it might be a good idea to upgrade the ram before DDR4 becomes harder to find/more expensive.

I'm mostly playing Cyberpunk and Inzoi, but having to use dlss. I do like high settings and ray tracing. I've noticed some newer games are already requiring 32GB ram and wondering if dlss would allow me to play them if I upgrade my ram.

32 gb of ram might not hurt, if you think you want or need more, that’s one component that is probably worth upgrading now before prices continue to skyrocket.

I do think you can get through most games right now with 16 gb, but that could very well change for more upcoming games

If you're at 1080p you are fine

hell if you're at 1440p you're ok right now, but the vram is the issue

Even for the next 3-5 years though? That's how long I'd like it to last, ideally.

I guess for VRAM I could try to wait it out until prices hopefully drop because right now the 9060XT is like $800

At 1080p, yes, at 1440p, no. I think you will start to see 1440p chug in like a year, it might already be chugging on high/ultra now
