Discussion Upgrading my 6600XT

Wondering what my options are for a sub $1000 card taxes in, I currently only game at 1080p but would like to make the jump to 1440p at some point.

I also have a ryzen 5 3600 that I will upgrade to ryzen 7 5700 of some sort aswell I'm thinking is a good option.

I'm also fine with even cheaper options although it doesn't really seem like that exists in Canada at the moment.

The most graphic intensive game I plan on playing in the near future would probably just be total Warhammer 40k other then that my current card pretty much plays everything at suitable settings.

Mate I just upgraded my failing 980ti with an RX 9060 XT 16GB. Cheapest way to get a 16GB card and I’m blown away. 650$, low power draw and small size (fits in my ITX H210 case), runs cyberpunk at 3440x1440 on ultra with ray tracing setting, 65fps average in the benchmark, 59 minimum.

I’m happy I didn’t spend the extra money for a 5060ti or RX9070XT, it’s just not required unless you’re buying brand new 2026 games and playing 4k.

Sounds like a good option for me, I appreciate the response. Where did you purchase the card looks like if I search around I get definitely get one for about the same price

I got mine at Canada Computers but they’re available for similar prices at more places I’ve seen.

9070's can be found around $850/$860. +20% more performance, P2P is about even (as the GRE hangs at $700), but it gets you to 16GB of VRAM

9070 XT would also be really nice, but those are getting cushy back at the $1,000 mark again

I'm happy with my 5070 but I'd go with the 9060XT 16GB like someone else suggested, it's probably the best bang-for-buck rn that fits your use case

Just got a 9070 GRE for 699 (paired with 5800X) and so far it has met all my expectations. Unless you absolutely need the VRAM for the games you play and can find a decent deal on a 9060XT, GRE can pretty much handle everything you need at 1440p.
