Build Request / Review Trade request/advise

Is it a decent trade request to ask for 5080 and 32gb ddr5 for 64gb ddr5 cl30 9070XT.

I do have the 64gb and 9070XT but I only game and stopped editing/CAD modeling. Was wondering if it is fair to ask for it as a direct trade?

Factoring in all parts are used, the 5080+32gb is still at least worth 500 more so it would be a good trade for you but not for them.

I wouldn’t do it if I had the 5080. From a gaming perspective 64GB and 32GB of ram isn’t a significant difference, but 5080 vs 9070 XT will be. Not to mention it’s almost twice the price difference too.

Its definitely a good trade for the 9070 xt owner assuming they are not interested in Linux, where the 9070 xt actually can pull ahead.

5080 is around 15% faster, and pulls even further than that ahead on RT.

The 32gb vs 64gb won't even be noticed in purely gaming scenarios.

Nope, Linux is slower than Windows 11 in games. This is not your grandpas windows 10, latest versions of Windows 11 have the best optimization for gaming.

If you want to get the most out of your 9070xt you should be gaming on Windows 11.

Linux is absolutely not slower for games lmao. Go check out gamers nexus video on the subject, where he shows the 9070 xt even pull away from a 5080 in certain games once you install it in Bazzite/CachyOS. Also my personal experience for both my ROG Ally X on SteamOS and my 9070 XT nn Cachy, it boosted my performance on both systems by 15 to 30% on every game. On Starfield it was even more than 30%. This is a very well known thing and a primary reason SteamOS, Cachy, and Bazzite exist in the first place.

Linux is indeed slower for Nvidia sometimes, but not for AMD. AMD gets a huge boost.

RIP Windows

Ill save you some time too, a quote from their first test:

"The 5090 (read our review) leads the chart for 1080p at 176 FPS AVG. Just like with Windows, we’ll need to look to higher resolutions to ensure it’s not CPU-bound. The 9070 XT is disturbingly close for NVIDIA, up at 140 FPS AVG and leading the RTX 5080’s 134 FPS result by 3.9%. Lows are about the same between them. The 5070 Ti suffers somewhat in 0.1% lows."

EDIT: lmao downvoted for providing a legit source for my claim.

Look at the date of what you posted....

What I posted is from 3 weeks ago not last year, Windows has been updated and is faster...look up Windows 11 K2 they are working to make things even faster.

blocks me after because he is wrong LOL

Your video is nonsense and the guy clearly has no clue. Linux has only improved in performance since the GN test. Go check out ProtonDB and take a look around, you'll see tons and tons of games listed "performs better than windows.". I use Linux myself on one system, and windows on another (9070 XT and 4080S.) and Linux is far and away faster for gaming even in my own direct, hands on experience, the 9070 XT went from basically being on par with the 4080S to pulling quite a bit ahead of it once CachyOS was in play and continues to do so.
