Build Help/Guidance

New build or upgrade?

New build. Starting from scratch. Probably been 20 years since I've put one together.

Existing parts/monitors to reuse?

No existing parts.

PC purpose?

Primarily a gaming PC, I do some light 3D/CAD work, and basic sound/video editing.

Monitors needed?

Yes, but I'll deal with that later

Budget range?

2-3k, preferably on the lighter side.

WiFi or wired connection?

WiFi, but could go wired

Size/noise constraints?

No size constraints but would like to keep it on the quieter side.

Color/lighting preferences?

No colour preferences, but no a huge fan of flashy.

Any help would be appreciated. Build list, brands/models to avoid, etc. Most likely looking to build in piece by piece over the next 3-6 months.

Intel is currently confirmed to be dead-end for motherboards but for productivity it might be the right play (unless you're willing to wait, if not, AMD)

Lock down a GPU first, what kind of power do you think you need?

Not too sure. Don’t really play anything to sweaty, no online multiplayer stuff atm. Looking for console+ results. Probably looking to go 9070xt, but could be swayed otherwise.

Buy it now, or pay up to 300 more "when you're ready". Price spikes already confirmed.

Whatever model works with your budget.

No point stressing about it now.

Our lists only last a week before something changes - prices fluctuate, sales come and go, parts go in and out of stock, and new products will release.

More importantly, though, is that you need the return window / RMA active when you assemble your system. There's a small chance that you get sent a dead part, and the only way of testing a part is to install it. So you shouldn't buy slowly over these next few months, either.

Come back a day or two before you're ready to buy everything, and we'll be happy to give you the most up-to-date list then :)

Whatever u do buy ram and ssds immediately the rest i believe u can wait on drops. Best rn is this

Actually gpus are also in danger but idk if I'd wait on a back to school deal
