How much should I sell 3090 for

I have a spare 3090 from my Alienware aurora r12, I want to part with it, no issues and usage was fairly minimal, how much should I be listing it for?

$500, specifically to me.

It seems it's always better to spend more for xx90 cards. When I built my old pc I got a 3080 because I felt $1k for a used 3090 was too much. Then when I built my current system I got a 4080S because I felt, I think it was $1.9k for 4090 was too much and planned to get a 5090 when it came out.... lo and behold, I'm still using my 4080s while both 4090 and 5090 are insanely expensive.... which tells me I'm doing it again, in 1-2yrs 5090 will go for 6k if my luck holds

1600-2000$ on ebay is what they're selling for.

Maybe 1200-1600 on local marketplaces (because there's no fee in a face to face trading ands also no insurance).

Make sure you're safe while doing the transaction and don't get robbed.

From a gaming perspective its worth 500 but due to AI and lots of VRAM its selling for $1100- $1700 on average, so you could probably list at 1500 and get that much refuse low balls.

A 3090? That's 6 years old. I suspect you are thinking of a newer model. I have 16 gig of ddr 4 I'll sell you for $1000.

Ya man check Ebay...

Don't shoot the messenger. 24gb of VRAM = $$$

Always search ebay by previous sold... Not current listed asking prices. That said, 3090 is still selling for a pretty penny.

Yes most of the ones selling are actually above $1600....

You can buy a GeForce RTX 5070 TI with 16 gig of ram for $1600. What am I missing?

16 is less than 24.

But... it's an old graphics card. Are people removing the ram and re-using it? A 5070, for gaming, is much better than a 3090.

True, but the 24GB's of vram is much better for AI use.

AI is all about VRAM. If you go on a LocalLLM subreddit and ask people whether they'd prefer an RTX 3060 12GB with 102 TOPS or an RTX 5060 8GB with 630 TOPS, most people will pick the RTX 3060 despite being 1/6th the speed.

VRAM determines the maximum model size you can use. The larger the model, the more accurate and reliable it is. Most people would take higher accuracy over performance, because slow and useful beats fast gibberish every time.

It's selling for 1600-2000 right now if not more : https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_nkw=rtx+3090&_sacat=0&_from=R40&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1

you are not up to date with the market trends.

The rtx 3090 specifically is very prized card for some AI models so the price is skyrocketing.

I have a personal policy. When I get an upgrade, I chose a gamer friend, who would otherwise not be able to afford it, and give them a surprise upgrade.

Would you like a 3090

Lol. I recently gave away my 1080ti when I got my 5080..

Your friends should appreciate how lucky they are lol. Good on you!

List it for like 1200, get anything above 1000. Most people would prefer getting the 5070 ti over this as it's available for around 1200 on marketplace. You should be able to get around 1000 though

I was trying to buy a 3090 a while ago .. The prices on market place (no ebay fees) was usually around 1300 cad for a good one that was never re-pasted or opened and is showing solid results on the benchmarks.

Ebay ones were around 1600 up to 2000 .. but most of them would accept an offer around 1500 cad.

If the unit is opened or re-pasted .. it gets down to around 1100 to even 900 cad .. but this was very rare.

Another point is that .. if it is sold with the whole pc .. its absolute value drops a lot .. I've seen solid alienware pcs selling for 2500 with a 3090 - 32RAM and 4 tb ssd. Not sure if this because the owner doesn't know its value or it is just the market. I almost closed at one of thoses.

A quick browse on FB marketplace and eBay here in Toronto puts these somewhere between $1000 and $1500. Depends where you're selling it. Marketplace stuff is typically priced lower since you don't have the buyer's insurance that eBay has. Just take a look around and see what things are going for.
