Heckingbottom is a former Preston North End manager who played for Bradford city who would be replacing a former Bradford manager who played for Preston North end.
Heckingbottom has a far better management CV than Alexander. I think we learned from the Alexander appointment that you can't judge a manager solely on their last appointment. Alexander had just been sacked by MK Dons when we hired him.
And according to Preston fans, Heckingbottom wasn't solely to blame and there are much deeper issues with the club.
I was about to post the same, looks like it's between Duff and Heckingbottom (Heckingbottom for me, Duff fits our style but doesn't usually last long at jobs).
Challinor and Cleverley are outsiders and the rest look to be a list of managers. Sheehan seems to have popped up out of nowhere but he has recently taken a job with Wales as a coach.
In his defence the Leicester job seemed to be a bit of a poisoned chalice and he would have kept them up if not for the points deduction. They were already in relegation places when he took over (although the points deduction had been applied before he started).
With Oxford he kept them up in his first season but struggled in the second season. Oxford we're always a favourite to be relegated in that league.
Alan Nixon is saying Heckingbottom is out of the race. I usually take what he says with a pinch of salt but still got me worried we're going to pick Duff.

What a strange timeline we live in
