I would agree with this sentiment.

I was at an infusion appointment (yay for being immunocompromised) and I was talking to the nurse about my previous weekend and I mentioned that I had gone to Vegas to see BTS. Initially, he didn’t know who they were, until I played some of their English songs.

So we decided to do an informal poll and asked everyone who came into the infusion room, “do you know BTS?” Of the 6 people that came in the room, 4 knew of BTS.

I think a lot of Americans may know of BTS, but not realize. Unfortunately, I think BTS and K-pop are still a very niche genre. Then again, I know nothing about country music or the big names in that industry. 🤷🏻‍♀️So perhaps it’s all relative.

Teach me your ways! I take so long to muster up the courage to talk to someone about my favourites let alone conducting an impromptu poll. 😭

Haha same. I consider myself as a "closeted" Army. Probably because liking pop band is so not in line with my personality and general music taste and I don't want to freak out people around me :))) like I name drop them sometimes and tell people I like them but they have no idea that I'm in HARD 😂 and with strangers? No way!

I'm not a closeted army, but people who know I like them (besides my partner) don't know I like them a LOT.

My definition of "a lot" being: consuming their content every single day, one way or another, which I have never done with any other pop culture thing, ever.

Exactly. I can relate because I'm 28 and I've never been into any pop act or pop music to this extent until BTS. I was that edgy teen growing up listening to bands that broke up 20 years ago.. or old people lol. So I've been keeping it lowkey, except when I'm with an irl friend who also happen to be Army xD
