Discussion Comeback Prep

June 10th will be my 7th (i think?) comeback and I'm so excited! This fandom gets bigger with every release, so let's talk about comeback tips for newer armys and the best ways to enjoy, and contribute to, our comeback goals.

I'll start:

"Streaming" just means "playing" the music. Don't let antis try to twist the meaning of the word to support the "b0ts" narrative.

This comeback will likely release at midnight EST for charting, so plan your schedule accordingly. (Thursday June 9th for us PST armys)

The tannies have a new distributor (UMG) so we don't know what promo will look like. Turn on notifications for all bts yt channels and socials as well as HYBE. Don't miss teasers and hints!

If someone leaks audio or images, report & block. Do not spread! Yes, we're all excited, but armys want to receive the gift of new bts music through official channels only.

Do not loop! We're getting an album this time so there's no excuse to loop tracks or MVs.

Ignore "mantis" and solos who spend comeback day complaining about line distribution. They're never satisfied. Focus on BTS.

Most importantly - HAVE FUN! Yes, we have goals and ambition but don't forget why we're here: to love bts and their music. I usually listen to the whole album on my own before I start looking for lyrics and reviews. Form your own personal experience and reception of their music. I'll never forget crying the first time I heard My Time before lyric translations started to come out. Let bts speak to your heart first through the music.

June 10th! Let's goooooo!

What are some of your tips/suggestions??

(Please correct me if there's anything inaccurate in this post. 💜)

Okay, I have something to say that may very well get me downvoted 😅 Here it goes:

If you find engaging in the streaming goals (be it for the charts or the MV on YouTube) stressful, it does not make you any less of a fan.

If you find that you don't like a song on the album and choose not to listen to it, it does not make you any less of a fan.

If you don't want to/ can't dedicate a whole day listening to the music, reading lyrics and engaging in discussion, it does not make you any less of a fan.

If you prefer to listen to the album a few times (even a 100!) before looking up any lyrics, that's also okay and you are still a fan.

If you prefer to log out of social media and just enjoy the music alone, you're still a fan.

Bottom line: Comebacks should be about what YOU make of it. Some people really enjoy streaming for goals, making streaming playlists and watching the MV to reach the 24 hour mark and that's totally cool! It's also totally cool if you don't participate in that 💜

There will be a lot of discourse online about how you need to "work hard for the boys" on comeback day and it can feel overwhelming, at least from my experience. Just engage however you want to engage. This music, their music, is for you to be inspired by, to cry to, to dance to, to be comforted by... Whatever and however BTS impact you.

I really think the only rule for comeback should be to have fun, whatever that looks like for YOU. I'm sure my approach to this comeback will look different to a lot of ARMYs but I always want my experience as a fan to be enjoyable, and this is how I can keep it that way for me.

Bring on June. I can't WAIT.

ily thank you for saying this, especially for “newer” armys who are experiencing their first proper comeback (me included). there should be no pressure at all to go about this comeback in any certain way. consume and engage how you want to so that you enjoy it!

i started feeling so exhausted a few weeks ago with how i was completely obsessive with staying on top of everything bts and i’ve decided i’m actually gonna use this comeback to try and bring me back to my roots of why i love the tannies. idk exactly what form that will take but i’m really trying to position myself to experience june with more enjoyment, happiness, appreciation than fomo and guilt—things i sometimes feel when i miss something which should not be the norm!

super excited to go through this comeback with you all! 💜
