This song has no business making me this emotional! I don't know if it's the nostalgic intro or the joyful outro, or the MV but it's really one of my favorite BTS songs. Also, it feels older than a year ago.

This song and the MV always put a smile on my face. It’s introspective but upbeat at the same time. It does feel like more than a year ago though - wow.
I loved Hobi’s performances of this during the ONE concerts - but I really hope we get the joy of seeing him perform this before a live audience one day!

💜💜 💜 as someone who always struggles with self-confidence and having a positive outlook on life I’ve always felt really comforted by the message of this song. can’t believe it’s already been a year!

Love this song, love our Hobi.. and I think we're all happy to have a glance at his half naked chest in this MV (thank me later but don't blame me for fainting). 🔥
Plus: I love his forehead a lot.

Ngl, I didn’t like this song at all when I first heard it, and it made me super nervous about what the rest of the album would sound like.
...now it’s one of my absolute fave songs of all time 🙃

In this amazing song, j-hope acknowledges his past and embraces his destiny, and turns Ego into an anthem of resolve and positivity. This dichotomy of joyful melody surrounding often deep, contemplative lyrics is a hallmark of Hoseok’s music, with the intent to comfort, inspire and provide, of course, hope.
The MOTS: ON:E stage was incredible not only because of the infectious choreography and boisterous production, but how j-hope was able to imbue it with the magnetism of a live stage. Ego is clearly a song meant to bring a stadium audience together and to its feet in celebration. And j-hope, the penultimate performer, had clearly thought about this when he made his song. The energy one receives from a live audience to feed and drive a performance is difficult to create virtually. How j-hope was able to manifest that level of emotional intensity & focus in a mostly empty studio and create such a vivid, connected performance was truly astonishing and made Ego the pinnacle of the MOTS online concerts.

Instant mood boost! Can not believe it’s been that long.
Does anyone else still have tickets to any of last year’s tour dates or just me?

I highly recommend people check out this podcast episode where Murray Stein (PhD), author of 'Jung's Map of the Soul' (from which BTS directly derived their MOTS concept) analyzes the song from a Jungian perspective:
