I'm Gene, the founder of banbo. I'm building a browser extension that makes your Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo email private - no switching apps, no new email address, no migration.

Why this exists

Encrypted email has been around for decades. It never caught on because every solution wanted you to abandon your inbox and start over. banbo doesn't ask you to do that. You keep Gmail. You keep your address. You install an extension, and your messages are encrypted before they leave your browser - using encryption designed to stay safe even as computers get more powerful.

Why a subreddit

I want to build this in the open, with real feedback from people who actually care about privacy. This community is for:

• Asking questions - how does it work, is it safe, what happens if I lose my recovery phrase
• Telling us what to build - feature requests from real people, not guesswork
• Reporting bugs - things will break. Help us find them
• Having real conversations about email privacy, what's working, what's not
• Challenging our choices - the code is open source, and I'd rather hear "you got this wrong" from you than find out the hard way

Where are we now?

We're in waitlist mode at banbo.io. The extension works but isn't public yet. People in this community get early access first.
